I'm still getting used to the new opening for The Simpsons. It's fun trying to see which characters are placed where as everything goes by the "camera" so damn fast. I'm enjoying it, though.
"How the Test Was Won" had a story which didn't sound all that original, but it turned out to be one of the better episodes of The Simpsons in a while. Superintendent Chalmers and Principal Skinner were tasked with preparing Springfield Elementary for the new "No ... Read More

Everyone wonders "what if?" at some point. I do it all the time, trying to learn from my mistakes. Homer Simpson asked this when a local businessman was entered into Springfield's Hall of Fame during a special ceremony.
Vance Connor, who was being inducted into the Hall of Fame, was voted Class President back in high school. Homer would have won that election if it weren't for the principal's actions. He overheard some of the jocks talking about electing ... Read More

This past episode of The Simpsons had a very unusual story focusing on Lisa Simpson who for the first time in God knows how long, managed to make a best friend. She was just as smart and adventurous as Lisa and they seemed to be a good pairing until they began spending a little too much time together.
Lisa meets equally academic and creative new friend Juliet (guest-voice Emily Blunt)
The two actually created their own imaginary world where they ruled, of course. ... Read More

I almost forgot to review this episode somehow. I guess with Christmas nearing, I've got a lot of things on my mind and The Simpsons isn't a priority. On with the review!
If I had to choose any single word to sum up the last Simpsons episode of 2008, it would have to be predictable. I should first note that I really like the idea of bringing the attention of bee collapse to the national audience, but I knew not ... Read More

The beginning of this new episode of The Simpsons felt a little out of place. The city was taking down all of the Christmas decorations when it was Thanksgiving that just took place. I know the writers are trying to mock at the speed in which we go from one holiday to the next, but I didn't think it was as strong of a joke as it could have been.
It isn't often that Bart Simpsons meets a new friend and ... Read More

The most recent episode of The Simpsons is very similar to the ones which preceded it, big on heart, small on comedy. "Homer and Lisa Exchange Cross Words" will go down as a good episode, but my no means a memorable one.
Lisa Simpson finds herself in love with crossword puzzles and they begin to take up her entire day. No matter where she goes, she's got puzzles on her mind. It gets to a point where she's able to ... Read More

Yay, we're back to a normal episode, with the traditional Simpsons opening. It's strange when you miss this sort of thing, but the Halloween specials tend to open with their own thing.
While driving to a cabin for their honeymoon, Homer and Marge find themselves picking up hitch hikers who remind them of themselves. It brings back memories of when Marge and Homer were young and in love and got picked up by Ned and Maude Flanders. Wow, it's nice ... Read More

The "Treehouse of Terror" specials have a long history on The Simpsons, but to be frank, I haven't enjoyed a lot of them. The writers try to cram three very different stories into a 20 minute episode and there isn't enough time to focus on funny material.
This continued to be the case this year with "Treehouse of Horror XIX." The first segment was entitled "Untitled Robot Parody." I actually liked this Transformers parody. There were a few good ... Read More

"Double, Double, Boy in Trouble" isn't the best episode of The Simpsons, but it wasn't entirely bad either. It focused on Bart's bad behavior. It's well documented by now that Bart isn't the best behaved child and one could blame it on anything, but I liked that flashback of Marge swallowing that single drop of alcohol which supposedly turned Bart into a little monster when he was developing.
Things went bad for Bart when he caused Homer to lose out on ... Read More

Thankfully Bart isn't like most other teens who all seem to have cell phones and portable music players. He's stayed relatively the same over the years, but he finally complained when he missed out on Principal Skinner's near-death experience while driving his mother on the highway.
I have to admit that although Denis Leary has been in some projects I like, he's not one of my favorite actors, so I had a tough time getting too excited about his guest appearance. ... Read More
