I used to watch The Colbert Report each and every night, but as my schedule got more and more tight, I just haven’t been able to find the time to watch as much Colbert and Daily Show as I used to. That being said, I was fortunate enough to catch part of an episode the other night, specifically the segment entitled “The Word.” This has always been my favorite segment on The Colbert Report and I find it a fitting segment to use for a little tribute or sorts to the great comedian George Carlin who recently passed.

Here is the segment from the show. I thought it was hysterical.

After several trips to local supermarkets over the past few weeks, I was finally able to track down Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream Ice Cream made by Ben & Jerry’s. I’ve never in my life purchased one of these “premium” ice creams before, so the price is a little shocking. When I usually buy ice cream, I go for whatever is on sale/is cheap. A trip to Wal-Mart resulted in me picking up two pints of Colbert’s ice cream for $2.73 each. A closer supermarket sells Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, but didn’t have Colbert’s flavor. They sell Ben & Jerry’s pints for $3.99 each, which damn near gave me a heart attack. I was pleasantly surprised to see the much lower price of $2.73 at Wal-Mart.

As for the flavor, I really liked it. The vanilla ice cream is overpowered by the savory caramel swirl and the tasty chocolate covered cone chunks. Being a huge fan of Stephen Colbert and his show, The Colbert Report, I’ve been looking for this ice cream treat for some time. I’d certainly buy it again, but I have to admit the premium ice cream will make me spend a little more time in the gym, LOL.

If you can find a pint near you, give it a try.

No Fact Zone is reporting that Ben & Jerry’s is experimenting with a Stephen Colbert-inspired flavor for their ice cream lineup.

Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream. Vanilla Ice Cream with Fudge Covered Vanilla Cone Pieces and a Caramel Swirl.

The fact that B&J is neither confirming nor denying this makes the story all the more likely to be real. I can’t say that I’ve ever actually tried Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, but I hear that it’s good stuff.

The show opens with a teaser of content from the show, which involves everything from a Paris fires to the show debuting in Canada.

Stephen starts off by showing all of the fires in Paris and the protests in Central America. Stephen seems to think France won some sort of sporting event. Stephen gets into a little segment called “Stephen’s Rioting Do’s & Don’ts”. He likes seeing windows smashed and cars on fire, and doesn’t have any don’ts.

Stephen moves into “The Word”, which is “Hoser.” Stephen announces that The Colbert Report has been picked up in Canada. Stephen went on to criticize Canada for the soft wood tariffs, which is hurting America’s lumber industry. Stephen brings in Daniel, a researcher, who was sent up to Canada to get a citizenship there. Stephen yells at Daniel for not bringing back all of the cheap medications Stephen asked for.

Up next is “Threat Down”. Number 5 top threat is “Pirates,” which tried to take over a cruise liner, but failed.

Number 4 was “Canadian Optometrists”. They are a group of terrorists who enjoy blowing air into our eyeballs.

Number 3 is “Professional Musicians.” They went on strike, delaying Christmas celebrations in New York. Stephen went off on a little rant about Christmas.

Number 2 is “NASCAR Romance Novels.” NASCAR has licensed company to offer romance novels with racing themes.

Number 1 is “Bears.” Why? Well for obvious reasons; you should know Stephen’s stance on bears by now.

Back from commercial, Stephen welcomes tonight’s guest, Eliot Spitzer, the New York State Attorney General, who is also running for Governor. They discussed Mr. Spitzer’s time as Attorney General and his running for Governor.

Back from commercial, Stephen ends the show by taking notice of the 5th anniversary of George Bush being elected President. Stephen put a Rock-em-Sockem robots toy on the shelf, to commemorate the Red/Blue difference.

Another pretty funny episode. The interview with Eliot Spitzer was hilarious. Mr. Spitzer has a great sense of humor, which added to the quality of the interview.

The show opens with a teaser of content from the show, which involves everything from secrets to email.

Stephen starts off by saying how Oliver Stone is in town, shooting his new 9/11 movie, but Stephen doesn’t want to welcome him. He then gets right into tonight’s “The Word”, “Shhhh!”. Stephen found out that the CIA has been detaining and questioning prisoners in secret prisons in other countries. No more digging, just keep it a secret, Stephen says.

Stephen transitions right into a rant on Hollywood and the culture wars. Stephen then shows Bradley Whitford, live in Hollywood. Bradley plugged the upcoming live episode of The West Wing, which will feature a live debate between the presidential candidates. Stephen then noticed Bradley had all of his emmy’s gathered around him, so Stephen pulled out his Emmy, and his Peabody. He then asked Bradley if he had a Peabody, and he did; he actually brought out two, which made Stephen laugh.

Back from commercial, Stephen goes into the third “Better Know A District” segment, which takes a look at the 11th district in Ohio, and interviews Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs-Jones. Stephen starts off the interview by asking her about a recipe. The interview went on to cover politics and the state of Ohio.

Back from commercial, Stephen goes back to Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs-Jones, and asks her if she is interested in a show called “Judge Tubbs”, and she agrees to play along and decide a case.

Stephen ends the show by reading some viewer mail.

Another good show, but the interview and “Judge Tubbs” segments just weren’t all that interesting or funny. When Bradley Whitford brought out both of his Peabody awards, it made me laugh, even more so when I saw Stephen’s reaction.

The show opens with a teaser of content from the show, which involves everything from dogs to Wal-Mart.

Stephen started off by making mention of a Fatwa being called on Stephen because of Stephen’s opinion on Halloween being better than Ramadan.

Stephen then covered the Senate closed-door session, which caused C-SPAN some problems, since they couldn’t cover it. Stephen then talked about a correction in a newspaper (The New York Times), which criticized The Colbert Report.

Stephen then went right into “The Word”, which was “cat”, a word even the New York Times should be able to spell correctly. There is apparently a radio station made for animals while their owners are at work.

Back from commercial, Stephen talked about how Wal-Mart is trying to take over the world. They’re already getting health care centers, and there’s news of them getting a war room.

Back from commercial, Stephen welcomed tonight’s guest, author of “Walking the Bible” and “Where God Was Born”, Bruce Feiler. Their discussion was entirely on religion and what role Iraq had on it. Stephen tried to find out if he could do a book with him sometime.

Stephen ends the show by talking about some phone calls from Russ Lieber, who admitted to Stephen that he did in fact only had one testicle.

Another funny show, but “The Word” segment wasn’t funny at all. This was the first time I didn’t laugh for that segment. The interview went pretty well, and the theme of “I called it” was pretty funny.

The show opens with a teaser of content from the show, which involves everything from Prince Charles to Ben Burns.

Stephen starts off by talking about Ken Burns and how he dissed the South (Stephen is from South Carolina).

Stephen quickly transitions into tonight’s “The Word”, which is “Camilla-Mania”. Camilla and Prince Charles has come to the United States, their first trip here since they married.

After “The Word,” Stephen moved onto a segment where he had Tad, the building manager walk them through a building evacuation drill, per Stephen’s manual.

Back from commercial, Stephen welcomes tonight’s guest, Ken Burns. During the interview, they discussed how email will make it tougher to make documentaries in the future. Stephen also quizzed Ken Burns about the civil war. They then showed a funny little black and white documentary on that episode.

Returning from commercial, Stephen introduces a new segment, “Formidable Opponent” where Stephen debated Stephen on whether or not charities are all good.

The evacuation bit was a bit boring, but when Tad broke the other guy’s neck, I laughed, as did the audience, but the rest of it wasn’t interesting. The little documentary Ken Burns and those guys put together was pretty silly.

The show opens with a teaser of content from the show, which involves everything from Fitzgerald to Alito.

Stephen started off by talking about Law & Order: Criminal Intent. He seemed to really enjoy the episode on last night.

Stephen then transitioned into a fake interview with Patrick Fitzgerald.

After the interview, Stephen transitioned into “The Word”, which was “Alito”. Stephen felt Alito was a good choice, but there was some brand-extension there to be had, since he’s known as “Scalito”, or little Scalia (Fun-Size). Stephen also said that there would have only been one person better for the job, Peter Fitzgerald, since everyone seems to have tremendous respect for him.

Back from commercial, Stephen welcomed tonight’s guest, Monica Crowley. Their discussion centered on President Bush and President Reagan.

Back from commercial, Stephen welcomed another “Stephen Settles The Debate”. Which is better Ramaddan or Halloween? Halloween got the nod after Stephen felt the Halloween’s snacks were far better than a bowl full of nothing.

To end the show, Stephen wants people to remember one death, “Rocktober”.

Overall, not too bad of an episode. My favorite segment for the night was the interview with Monica Crowley, who seemed to have a fun time there.

The show opens with a teaser of content from the show, which involves everything from Harriet Miers to… Harriet Miers.

Stephen starts off by complaining about the albino pumpkins which are gaining some fame. Stephen then complained about Russ Lieber who also complains about the pumpkins.

Stephen moved onto tonight’s “The Word”, which was “Quitters”, which was all about Harriet Miers.

After tearing Harriet Miers a new one, Stephen felt a little bad, and decided to put her photo on one of his shelves, along with other Supreme Court nominees which weren’t approved.

Back from commercial, Stephen discusses congressional districts in a segment called “Better Know Your District”. Stephen offered a complete profile of the fourth district of Massachusetts. Stephen actually went there to interview Congressman Barney Frank.

Back from commercial, Stephen welcomes tonight’s guest, Jeff Daniels. Stephen ends up ambushing Jeff Daniels about how little he knows about the place he lives.

To end the show, Stephen checks in with the network’s morning show.

The interview with Barney Frank was a little funny and awkward. It reminded me a lot like the interviews Stephen did on The Daily Show. His interview with Jeff Daniels was hilarious, especially the ending comment by Jeff Daniels – “It was just shy of an honor.”

The show opens with a teaser of content from the show, which involves everything from a outsourcing to Neil DeGrasse Tyson.

Stephen starts off by talking about his Wi-Fi networking problems at home. He played back an audio recording from the tech support.

Stephen then moved into tonight’s word, “Perspective”. This was all about the 2000 deaths in the war in Iraq. 2000 isn’t as high as the number of deaths in most of the other major wars the U.S. has been involved in.

Returning from commercial, Stephen welcomes tonight’s guest, Dr. Neil deGradde Tyson. Dr. Tyson tried to explain the Big Bang theory to Stephen, who thinks Intelligent Design is much simpler. Stephen then brings up the fact that Dr. Tyson has decided that Pluto isn’t a planet, so he had him try to explain it.

Back from commercial, Stephen introduces another “Tip of the Hat/Wag of the Finger” segment. Laura Hutton gets a tip of the hat for having the guts to pose nude at her age. She then got a wag of the finger for posing nude at her age. Then a tip of the hat goes to Charlize Theron for her new movie. The next Wag of the finger goes to Mike Wallace, who is promoting his new book on NBC, and not CBS. Stephen shows off his own new book, and proceeds to read a sample from a chapter.

Stephen ends the show by asking people about things they care about in a new segment, “The Pulse”. Stephen was asked several questions, including Stephen’s favorite Jay-Z songs.

Another good show. I really liked the interview, both informative and comical.
