This past week saw the introduction of a new TV comedy series, Thank God You’re Here. It’s an improv show, pitting actors into scenes they know nothing about, and it’s up to them to keep it rolling along and still make it funny.

I was looking forward to the series for two reasons: the show is improv, which I like, and the advertisements showed a few actors I liked.

The two actors I was looking forward to seeing most of all are Wayne Knight, who is most famous for his role of Newman on Seinfeld. The other was Bryan Cranston, who played Hal on Malcolm in the Middle. Both actors performed very well, with Cranston doing exceptionally well, considering he had to make up a song on the spot and sing it.

Premier night saw two new episodes, and neither one of them were excellent in my opinion. I’m not a fan of the idea that there’s a judge on the show (Dave Foley). The position/job is virtually worthless.

Although the shows gave me a few laughs, I can’t possibly see this show getting picked up. I expect this to be canceled rather quickly.
