Every once in a while we’re introduced to Virginia’s (Martha Plimpton) other family members and they all seem to be interesting. They're all quirky in their own way. Amy Sedaris was the perfect person to play Virginia’s stuck-up one-upper of a cousin, Delilah. Amy Sedaris is an actual comic so she looked completely comfortable in the role.
After seeing how awful Delilah could be, I was a little worried about how far Virginia was going to go. Taking photos ... Read More

Did you know that Burt (Garret Dillahunt) was once kidnapped by a long-haired hippie? That was one of the craziest stories ever spun by Raising Hope. First Burt was kidnapped and then he wasn’t. It was a strange, but hysterical turn of events that took us places I never thought we’d go.
I want to first thank the writers for once again for the way they write the Sabrina (Shannon Woodward) character. It’s amazing how she’s basically another member of ... Read More

I've been sort of dreading writing this review because the episode was partially ruined by me. I mistook Sabrina's (Shannon Woodward) background with the background of another female lead. The fact that Sabrina came from a rich family wasn't the least bit surprising. Unfortunately, I got her confused for a moment with another female character and I can't remember who. It's someone whose father owns some big toothpaste company. Can anyone remember who that is? I'm ... Read More

Raising Hope was the breakout new comedy of 2010. There's no denying how good this show was right out of the gate. Not only was the writing funny and clever, but the acting was superb. I never would have thought to see Garret Dillahunt move from dramas to comedy, but he did and he totally took me by surprise. He was amazing in his role as Burt.
Now that season two is here, it's got me thinking it's time ... Read More

What seemed like an absolutely crazy episode about Virginia's (Martha Plimpton) insistence about the family getting a perfect photo turned out to be a lot funnier and pretty darn sweet. I'm really glad my mother isn't like Virginia. My mom has only insisted we get a family photo a couple of times. It's never been the frustrating, stressed out annual event that we saw on Raising Hope.
I felt bad for Jimmy when Sabrina (Shannon Woodward) found that photo album ... Read More

My favorite new show of the fall, Raising Hope, is off to a good start thus far. So great, in fact, that FOX has given the series a full season order. Twenty-two episodes are scheduled and I couldn't be happier right now.
"Dream Hoarders" showed the power of dreaming through a series of entertaining events, all started with Jimmy's little girl learning how to crawl. The fashion in which she learns how to do that was funny. I couldn't ... Read More

It's not always fair to decide on a show's fate on your DVR by watching the show's pilot. Some shows work out despite a poor pilot. With Raising Hope, I didn't have very many concerns with it. I just hoped they could keep the comedy going beyond the pilot. They did exactly that with their follow-up episode, "Dead Tooth."
With the realization that he needs to be more responsible, Jimmy (Lucas Neff) surprised both of his parents when he ... Read More

I came into the series premiere knowing virtually nothing about the show, and that's how I like it. I don't like to have a bias because of the press the show has gotten. To say that I enjoyed Raising Hope's pilot would be a bit of an understatement. I loved it!
Raising Hope comes from My Name is Earl's Greg Garcia. I didn't watch very much Earl, but I liked the little I did see. Garcia's new project ... Read More
