Sunday's episode of King of the Hill didn't have the most original story in the history of the show. It felt rather familiar with Hank trying to save Buck Strickland's behind once again. Buck was set to be inducted into the Propane Hall of Flame, but Buck and his new-found bastard son wound up spending all of their time getting drunk and spending time with strange women. This marks the very first King of the Hill episode to air in HD here in the U.S. I've heard a few have been redone for air in the U.K., but I'm glad the series in finally airing in HD. Thankfully "Straight as an Arrow" took us outside of Hank Hill's place of work. Sometimes it can be tough to deal with all of what goes on there. After reviewing two disappointing episodes today, I found one which was a bit better in "A Bill Full of Dollars." I've never known Bill to be rich, but he did seem to spend a lot of time in the stores this week. He became the center of attention when Dale, Minh, and Peggy began studying his buying habits. Not unlike the previous episode, "No Bobby Left Behind" was another mediocre episode. It took us back to Bobby's school, which isn't often featured on the show these days. With the standardized tests in the near future, the students find themselves under a lot of pressure. If they don't pass, teachers will lose their job and the school may be shut down. Principal Moss comes up with the solution to the school's problem: define the "stupid" kids as special needs ... Read More

King of the Hill is really losing its steam. The show is no longer as funny as I remember it being and "Lost in Myspace" is a fine example of a show in decline. With Fox owning Myspace, it seemed like an obvious product to promote through mocking it. King of the Hill at its heart is a show about a neighborhood of blue-collar Americans who I can certainly find some commonality with. I really like the characters, even some of the goofier ones like Dale. So I was a little sad when I learned that the thirteenth season would be its last. Like The Simpsons, King of the Hill used to be a show I would watch every Sunday evening as part of Fox's excellent animated comedy block, but over the years, I've not had the time to watch it. I always enjoyed the show, but I admit I'm surprised the show is still on with the sinking ratings and relatively poor writing.
