"Starting Again" was an unusual episode in the sense that it shows how one person's emotional state can affect their life. The homeowner, Manuel, couldn't sleep in his bed after he lost his wife. It was so bad that he eventually abandoned the bedroom he and his wife shared, moving into the room their son used to live when he was a boy.
It's amazing how much of an impact one person can have on another. Manuel, however, thankfully knew ... Read More

This week on Holmes Makes It Right, Mike Holmes and his crew give a hand to a woman who has been through a lot lately. She suffered an aneurysm, followed by two strokes. Good grief! She's damn lucky to have survived those. They can all be lethal.
This episode stood out as different because Mike wasn't in constant communication with the home owner the entire episode. Instead it was the woman's adult daughter. She took it upon ... Read More

This week on Holmes Makes It Right, we see Mike spending as much time trying to solve a mystery as he spends time rennovating the house in question. He and the crew were called to a century year old house to determine why their attic isn't accessible.
Yeah, that sounds weird, right? Apparently a roofer was called in to work on the roof. When he peeked through the attic window, he was surprised to find a living space. The ... Read More

OH MY FREAKIN' GAWD! Did you guys watch this episode?! "Over Their Heads" had Mike Holmes and his crew come in and take over a house that saw major renovations made to it. Unfortunately the contractor who originally took on the job was in over his head and wasn't able to finish the job correctly. I'll admit that the price the contractor quoted the homeowners seemed awfully low. Even if the contractor knew what he was doing, ... Read More

In this week's episode, Mike Holmes and his crew come to the rescue of a family with a young daughter who is wheelchair-bound by Cerebral Palsy. The family had previously gotten a lift put into their home to help get their daughter up and down their house, but it has a lot of problems. The lift appears to be more of a prototype that simply wasn't ready to be installed into a client's house. It should have been put ... Read More

Now here's an episode I can get behind personally. Although I don't face quite the same challenges a deaf person does, I have gone through a DIY bathroom project that didn't go as planned. In her case, she had friends and relatives help work on her bathroom and just about everything went wrong, even her aunt falling through the floor. Yikes. I never had that happen.
In my case, it's been ten years and I never did finish the ... Read More

In this week's episode, Mike Holmes and the crew help out a family in need. One of the sons died after playing in a football game. It was always his dream to remodel the basement and make it nice for the family.
His old shop teacher agreed to take a look at the basement and considered doing the work with his shop class as a class project. He soon realized it was too big of a job for him and ... Read More

The "Money For Nothing" episode of Holmes Makes It Right took me back to when Mike Holmes and crew would help out a family who basically got robbed by contractors.
The homeowners in this week's episode got a flier that promised a better kitchen than they probably ever intended of delivering. The photos of the kitchens shown on the flier were kitchens that Mike Holmes claimed were $30-$40,000 kitchens but they promised prices half that.
Even though you do feel really bad for ... Read More

After last week's somewhat emotional episode of Holmes Makes It Right, the show returned to more of its standard episode with them helping a young family with their house.
Instead of the homeowners getting the shaft from a suspect contractor in the past, the problem was widespread from the home seller, old home owners, and the local bank.
The home was marketed as a newly remodeled and everything was new. Little did the new home owners know, the basement was a ticking time ... Read More

As a huge fan of contractor Mike Holmes and his various TV shows, I was excited to see this latest episode air on DIY Network last night. For those not familiar with the concept of the show, Mike and his crew come in and help a homeowner with the remodeling of their home. Sometimes inept contractors leave homeowners with a dangerous home. Other times contractors are flat-out con artists, taking their money and leaving. Mike Holmes has carved ... Read More
