With all eyes being placed on Fringe's fluctuating ratings, you'd think the writers would work on putting together some top-notch episodes. Instead of a greatness, we got an average filler episode at best with "Subject 13." Kudos to the team for bringing back the classic opening and dropping in some obvious hints at 1980s technology. What appeared to be an interesting episode about ghosts turned into an episode about a wonderful love story. With last week's episode of Fringe, it became clear that the other Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) did a good job of using her time. An unexpected encounter with Walternate's (John Noble) doomsday device changed Peter Bishop (Joshua Jackson) for the worse in the eleventh episode of the season. The changes made to Peter made his demeanor noticeably different and I felt it negatively affected the episode. After getting rattled by coming too close to the device, Peter wasn't quite himself from that point on. It was clear early on in "Reciprocity" Peter's demeanor had changed. The irony of Christopher Lloyd being involved with an episode dealing with time travel is not lost on me and I suspect it was intentional given his participation in one of the greatest movie trilogies ever: Back to the Future. I still love going back to the DVDs to see Marty McFly and Doc Brown. After going some time without an episode dealing with Observers, it felt like a great opportunity to touch upon the subject. Well I think you'd have to be crazy to expect Olivia (Anna Torv) and Peter (Joshua Jackson) to get together right away. They were both put through a lot. Anna Torv can play a pretty stoic Olivia sometimes, but there's no question that Olivia was finding it hard to get back to her life after her doppleganger assumed it for so long, even sharing her bed with Peter. "Entrada" is definitely the episode we've all been waiting for. Olivia (Anna Torv) is now back home where she belongs. It's been a long time coming too. We were able to see a softer side of Broyles (Lance Reddick) during this episode and in last week's as well. Now that was an episode! The opening scene with the mother telling her boy that there was no monster in his room reminded me of something from The CW's Supernatural. A doctor using the life force from children to keep himself alive doesn't seem that unusual when you consider the fact that it's been touched upon by Fringe and other shows in the past.
