I've said it before and I'll say it again: season finales are almost always disappointing. Perhaps I expect more out of the writers, especially when it comes to serialized shows. Lost was one of the few shows that seemed to hit it out of the park every time. Dexter, on the other hand, is written very differently. It's written as each season is really its own story and very few details carry over into the next.
One of the ... Read More

As we near the season end, it's hard not to come into an episode like this with high expectations. Dexter has been a fantastic series right from the pilot and I'm happy to claim the writers have rarely disappointed me with their results. With this being the second-to-last episode of the fifth season, I was expecting a fair bit of action and excitement and I think we got just what I was looking for.
Before his meeting up with Debra Morgan ... Read More

"In The Beginning" was an episode I had been looking forward to for the last few weeks. I've been eager to learn more about this group of childhood friends. Having learned the identities of them all, Dexter still managed to leave an air of mystery about.
I suspected it to be unlikely for Emily to be the first victim and I'm glad I was on the right track. Still, I couldn't quite piece together her story. The relationship she ... Read More

These last few episodes of Dexter have been phenomenal. Dexter Morgan's (Michael C. Hall) screw-up proved to be a costly one. He wasn't as slick as he thought he was. It didn't take Jordan Chase (Jonny Lee Miller) very long to learn that Dexter was prying into his business after seeing some blood was taken from his necklace.
For the majority of the episode, Jordan Chase was out of the spotlight. Instead, it was Astor (Christina Robinson) and her ... Read More

With each passing episode, I find myself feeling all the more tense. I can't think of very many shows that I could claim to be still suspenseful after four and a half years. It's an incredible thing to be able to do all this time.
"Take It!" had a lot going on, as usual, and was full of surprises. When Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) first talked about killing Cole (Chris Vance) in the hotel, I honestly doubted he could ... Read More

Holy smokes. Dexter was awesome this past week. I admittedly had some doubts about the fifth season, but "Circle Us" changed everything. Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) and Lumen Pierce (Julia Stiles) are now working together and they seem to be getting a lot closer than Dexter had ever imagined.
The relationship between Dexter and Lumen remains a fascinating one to watch unfold each week. While neither trusts one another one hundred percent, they manage to get along for ... Read More

Any episode that has Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) narrowly escaping being found out is a damn good episode in my book. The suspense in "Everything Is Illumenated" was outstanding!
The episode had Lumen Pierce (Julia Stiles) in Miami, after having never actually left, and trying to kill one of the men she thought was responsible for raping her. Lumen's being in Miami was quite a shock for Dexter. He was clearly under the impression Lumen had hopped onto the ... Read More

After seeing Julia Stiles filthy, in grungy clothes, it's nice to see her cleaned up and looking to make a few changes. It was a natural feeling to want to hurt the people who put her through a lot of torture, but as we all learned, the man she initially targeted wasn't likely responsible.
The fact that Dexter (Michael C. Hall) just about killed an "innocent" man wasn't a surprise. It was a riveting scene to watch, however. If it ... Read More

Season five has been a very difficult one for Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall). His world has been turned upside down with the death of his wife. He's relying on his sister to help raise Harrison, but there's only so much he can rely on her. I think this year I appreciate James Remar the most of the past couple of seasons. I loved him in season one, but with Dexter's life in turmoil, Harry Morgan is needed ... Read More

Unable to count on his sister to look after Harrison, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) wisely made the decision to look for a nanny this week. It isn't fair to Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) to ask her to always look after little Harrison. After all, she has a job and a personal life all her own. Saddling her with the responsibility of looking after Harrison is a bit much.
I enjoyed the line of questioning to the first potential nanny. Deb ... Read More
