Burn Notice – S02E02 – Turn and Burn Review

Categories: Episode Reviews

Remember that crossword puzzle--the one that Sam tried to give Carla pointers on before she blew him off--last week?  Well, it turns out that that crossword puzzle was a means for Carla to give Michael a covert message on where to meet her for his next mission. Now, of course, Michael Westen, the super-spy that he is, decides that he should probably get a photo of Carla to aid in figuring out who she is, and possibly who her overseer(s) is (are).  So, ... Burn Notice – S02E01 – Breaking and Entering Review

Last we saw "burned" spy Michael Weston he was driving down the Over Seas Highway south from Miami where he encountered a strange sight: no traffic and a parked semi-trailer with a ramp leading up into it. Driving up that ramp in his ex-spy buddy's Caddy, he was suddenly shut in with, perhaps, the idea that he was off to see the people who had had him "burned". It was the final climatic scene of one awesome first season. So, did the action, adventure, excitement ... Read More

Burn Notice Sandcastle

If by some coincidence you were under a rock somewhere, you probably know about USA Network's hit series Burn Notice and it's return last night. USA Network did a terrific job of getting the word out, but they also got involved in a more creative promotion. Time Square in New York City was turned into a big sandbox for an interesting Burn Notice sandcastle. Take a look at some of the pictures below: So what do 'ya think? I wish I ... Read More

Burn Notice – S01E11-12 – Dead Drop/Loose Ends Review

Categories: Episode Reviews

Burn Notice wrapped up its first season with a solid two-hour episode, which was full of action and drama. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the episode was put together. It started a little slow, but the pace picked up before too long. In the previous episode, we knew how anxious Michael was to meet with Philip Cowan, the man from the NSA supposedly responsible for his being burned. That continued here, with Michael playing spy games with Cowan. ... Read More

Burn Notice – S01E10 – False Flag Review

For some unexplainable reason, I never did finish watching the end of season one of Burn Notice last year. Maybe it was my busy schedule... who knows. Whatever the reason, it's something I've been meaning to do. So with the second season about to kick off, I figured now would be a good time for it. In the previous episode, we saw how Michael could be deceived by someone in a profession he loathes (paper pusher). In "False Flag", ... Read More

What We’re Watching This Summer

Categories: Opinion

Fall television has come and gone, leaving us with a cornucopia of terrible reality shows and just a handful of TV shows worth watching. I asked our writers to let me know what they will be watching this summer. We would love your picks as well. You can leave a comment in the box below. James Chamberlin I was really shocked when USA canceled both The Dead Zone and The 4400. Although The Dead Zone had seen better days and ... Read More

Burn Notice and Psych Casting News

Two of my very favorite TV shows on USA will be getting two relatively famous women for a few guest spots. Battlestar Galactica star Tricia Helfer will joining Burn Notice for a few episodes. She'll be playing Carla, Michael's handler. To protect those close to him, Michael reportedly has to work for Carla. I don't watch Battlestar Galactica, but whenever I see Helfer in the commercials, I pay attention. LOL. And for Psych, Shawn's mother has been cast: Cybill Shepherd. ... Read More

Burn Notice Season One DVDs Official

Categories: News, Opinion

Just the other day, I blogged about the price of the first season DVD box set of Burn Notice. I was hoping for some sort of mistake, but it's now official. The first season (eleven episodes) will be sold for $50. $40 would have been more appropriate in my opinion. I'll be looking for an online rebate from FYE come June. They don't always offer rebates, but when they do, it's often cheaper than what I can ... Read More

Burn Notice DVD Price Shock

Categories: Opinion

According to TVShowsonDVD.com, the first season of Burn Notice will be out on June 3rd, just three days before my birthday. It ought to be a nice present for myself, but the rumored price is shocking. Fifty dollars for twelve episodes. Holy crap! That's the sort of inflated price I would expect to find on a season box set of CSI, not Burn Notice. I hope the price changes because even after a store discount, that's much more than ... Burn Notice Novels

Just last week I mentioned the first season of Burn Notice would be out on DVD in a few months. Well, I just learned that a series of books is now scheduled for release as well. Tod Goldberg signed a three book deal with Penguin to write the books. Tod has been working on the first book since December. The first book, The Fix is scheduled for release on August fifth. I've noticed that these kinds of books, ones based on ... Read More
