Sci-Fi Channel has announced that they will be cancelling the hit series Stargate Atlantis at the end of the fifth season. It's one example of how a show's budget has just gotten too out of control. Factor in the production costs (Canada is no longer a cheap place to film these days), actor salaries, etc and it's just too much.
But there is some good news from all of this. There will be a two-hour movie to follow the conclusion ... Read More

CBS has officially announced that Laurence Fishburne will be joining the cast of CSI this season. He was one of only a handful of names being mentioned as the eventual successor to Gil Grissom (played by William Peterson).
Fish is a pretty big name to join the case and I'm betting CBS is excited to see someone of his stature join the show... think of the ratings bump and ad revenue.
Fishburne will play a former pathologist who is now working as an ... Read More

As you may have noticed, reviews here have slowed down quite a bit. It's because I'm on vacation. I needed a break, so you don't plan on anything new being published for a few days.

You won't often find a whole lot of buzz surrounding this little Sci-Fi Channel hit. Eureka is often overshadowed by both Stargate Atlantis and Battlestar Galactica, yet it manages to hold its own in the ratings department. It's a very different show compared to those two, relying more on comedy than the heavy drama often depicted in say Battlestar Galactica.
Anchored by Colin Ferguson, Eureka is a decidedly light-hearted science fiction series which we definitely recommend newcomers checking out. Ferguson ... Read More

You're not going to hear us report on movies very often, but with the X-Files franchise being a television show (and one of our favorites), it's hard to overlook the new movie's debut at the movie theater.
Despite the fact that the new film was well advertised (high volume... trailers weren't so good) on television and the Internet (I couldn't visit a site in the past week without seeing an ad for it), the new X-Files film was a flop, bringing in a ... Read More

With the recent release of the fantastic Batman film in theaters, Amazon has a huge sale on Batman DVDs right now. The sale includes not just Batman DVDs, but also several other characters from the DC Comics and Marvel Universes, including Superman and Spider-Man.

One of Sci-Fi Channel's most popular series, Ghost Hunters, has been officially renewed for a fifth season. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone as the show's ratings have remained strong and as a result, a spin-off series was created not so long ago, titled Ghost Hunters International. In 2009, the show will return with twenty-five new episodes.
In October 2004, SCI FI introduced Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson-plumbers by day, Ghost Hunters by night! Jason and Grant head up ... Read More

This didn't really surprise me, but USA Network announced that their new hit drama In Plain Sight will be renewed for a second season. The second season will be composed of sixteen new episodes and star Mary McCormack (The West Wing) will be returning.
Fred Weller as Marshall Mann and Mary McCormack as Mary Shannon
McCormack plays Mary Shannon, a U.S. Marshal working in the highly-secretive branch of the witness protection program (WITSEC) who relocates Federal Witnesses - many of whom are ... Read More
