TAPS had their hands full, it seemed, with the Clovis Sanitarium, a place where many people had had the unfortunate fate of losing their battle with Tuberculosis--meaning that a lot of deaths had occurred on the property. In a way it's easy enough to compare (history to history) what happened here to what happened at the Waverly Sanitarium back east--remember that place? Yeah, I do. Though, that place was much larger, still, the Clovis had numerous rooms, and activity all over the place, so ... Read More

When I saw that the two investigations were going to take place on a pair of nineteenth-century ships, I got extremely excited, and for good reason. TAPS' past investigations of ocean-going vessels has yielded some surprising evidence--particularly (just recalling back to previous investigations) the USS North Carolina. I'll still never quite forget that one, and to think I once had gone on the tour of it! But, getting back to this episode. Honestly, I was sort of let down.
The two ships, the Berkley and ... Read More

I thoroughly enjoyed the roundtable discussion. Though, I'm not exactly sure that was the best term to use for it. The reason being there was only Jason, Grant, Steve and Tango present. It would have been nice to have seen more TAPS members. At first, I thought this might detract from the enjoyment of the "discussion" but I was wrong. The insight into what drives Jason and Grant and, of course, Steve was absolutely worth tuning in for. One thing was clear ... Read More

They're back...! Of course, I'm talking about the cannibals--the ones that had once had Friday on the dinner menu. This week, though, we learn he's not the only one in his family they have a taste for. Also, on another related plot line, we finally get to see what exactly Crusoe's father-in-law did to betray his trust. In fact, the flashbacks in this episode were paramount, I think, to further developing Crusoe's character.
Like always, Crusoe and Friday were up against some uncertain ... Read More

Could Fort Delaware get any creepier? TAPS' first investigation of this Civil War era fort I thought was impressive enough. Well, the Live investigation yielded only more (and further) evidence that there's definitely something paranormal going on there. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that this Ghost Hunters investigation is now one of my favorites--at least, the results part of it.
The Live part was definitely, well, boring. I could only stand a few hours of it before I had to call it quits ... Read More

It sure looked like Friday was a goner. But, Crusoe was able to rescue him in a fairly satisfying and inventive way. In "High Water," the show seems to have returned to its initial quality. We learn more about Crusoe's past through his flashbacks--what drove him to leave England, the deceitful brother-in-law that had gotten him involved in piracy (eh hmm, I mean privateering), private moments with his wife and family; even past moments on the island spent with Friday. All of ... Read More

I didn't get a chance to watch the entire thing, but from what I saw of this year's "live" investigation, I wasn't that impressed. To be honest, it seemed to me more like a "plug" promotion deal for every SciFi show on the air. Of course, last year, Josh Gates was the host--so that didn't really bother me. And, they did have an ECW wrestler as well--just like last time. However, we also had Amanda Tapping, which was all right, since I ... Read More

While last week's episode didn't exactly match the production values of the previous "Rum" and "Gunpowder", it was still a mostly enjoyable experience. However, this time round, I was sadly let down to the point where I was about to change the channel--it was that bad. What peeved me the most was just how disjointed and confused the plot felt, as if the writers were grasping for straws on which way to go next. There just seemed a total lack of direction.

TAPS was off to California this week to investigate the said-to-be-haunted USS Hornet. Warships, especially ones that have seen action where the crew saw losses, definitely seem to be paranormal hotbeds. I remember the TAPS investigation of the USS North Carolina (which I've been on personally, though I never encountered anything like they did) and I recall the wealth of activity they were able to capture. So, my hopes were, of course, high that the guys would come off the USS Hornet ... Read More

TAPS was on Steve's turf this time round, hence "hometown" being used in the title. Theodore's, the first investigation, was of the most significance to Steve. An old bar and pool hall that he and his band (yes, band) had played at many times, and where he knew the manager and staff well. The whole site is more of a museum on all the upper floors than anything else, while the bottom floor contains the bar and restaurant. There's no doubt the ... Read More
