Regular Chuck fans are well aware of the story about Mary Bartowski (Linda Hamilton). The double agent has had to join Alexi Volkoff’s (Timothy Dalton) network of baddies in order to bring it down. The speed of Mary’s success isn’t exactly something to be impressed by, however. She’s had twenty years and Volkoff Industries seems to be doing as well as ever.

After letting her intentions be known to General Beckman (Bonita Friedericy), Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski) has really changed things with her wild mission in France. Now I’ll admit that I didn’t love the mission for a variety of reasons, one of which being you can’t actually see the chip they needed to get, but the episode’s greater picture was impressive.

That whole double agent twist with Sarah really took me by surprise. The timing couldn’t have been worse for Chuck (Zachary Levi). I would have liked to have seen a happy ending between the two before they were torn apart by the CIA agents. However, it may make it a better sell to those who question Sarah’s true intentions.

That being said, I still enjoyed the way the episode was put together. Sarah’s involvement in the proposal was really nice. She actually covered up Chuck’s mistake after he unwittingly dropped the ring. It was absolutely adorable.

Not to be overlooked was that scene with Morgan Grimes (Joshua Gomez) and John Casey (Adam Baldwin). The scene was brief and to the point… as long as you have the right girl, the proposal’s locale isn’t important.

While all sorts of crazy things were going on over in France, the Buy More store was home to as equally crazy goings-on. I couldn’t believe the way Jeff (Scott Krinsky) and Lester (Vik Sahay) acted when Lester learned his parents had set up a traditional Indian marriage. It was all-time goofy and uncomfortable. You can’t really blame that chick for running for the hills after seeing the “real” Lester.

“Chuck Versus the Balcony” could be another game changer depending on where they take the story with Sarah and her involvement in Volkoff Industries. It’s going to be strange seeing Sarah and Chuck go on completely separate missions. I bet we’ll be seeing Morgan in the field a little more often if they’re going to be down a man… or woman, in this case.
