After the previous episode’s revelation that William Bell was among those interested in copies of the book about the first people, I think we all got a little more information this week, but really, we’ve got more new questions than answers at this point.

Seeing Sam (Kevin Corrigan), the bowling alley manager, again was a surprise. We haven’t seen him since his training of Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv). Sam turns out to be a lot more interesting than I expected. If he really did write the books about the first people, it raises a ton of questions about this cat. Who is he? How old is he? Is he from the other side?

Anna Torv as Olivia Dunham

I think a lot of Fringe fans would agree with me when I say “Concentrate and Ask Again” wasn’t a particularly strong episode despite a decent effort on the behalf of the writers. The plot surrounding the blue, powdery toxin was a little weak. Perhaps what I liked most about it was it showed Olivia she isn’t alone… not by a long shot. I really liked the Simon Phillips (Omid Abtahi) character. I’m actually disappointed we haven’t had other Cortexiphan patients take a larger role in the series considering the powerful effects the substance had on its patients.

Simon’s involvement in the ongoing Olivia/Peter (Joshua Jackson) love saga proved intriguing considering the timing with the information about the so-called doomsday device. Depending on which Olivia Peter loves, we’ll get a different outcome.

I can’t say I was surprised by the news that Peter still has feelings for the other Olivia. I think we often overlook the significance of intimacy. It’s a powerful thing for a person to have and then to suddenly lose. The loss of the other Olivia as a companion, even with the deception, is something that’s obviously still got Peter’s mind clouded. Olivia might be able to change his mind if she dolled up in a sexy dress now and again. It’s nice to see Anna Torv dressed up a bit.
