I initially thought “6955 kHz” was going to be a standalone episode when it began. It just had that feel to me. I have to give the writers credit for doing a fine job of melding it into the Fringe story. The investigation had our cast of characters getting involved into the unusual idea of number stations, something I’ve heard about before, but something I’ve never bothered to read much about.

One of the early surprises was the inclusion of Nina Sharp (Blair Brown). I don’t recall mentioning it very often, but one of the things I don’t particularly care for is the fact that Nina has almost been extensively written out of the show. With William Bell deceased, the writers have done a poor job of finding a way to incorporate her into the show. I feel bad for Blair Brown, who I’m sure felt she would have a more occurring role on the show.

John Noble as Walter Bishop

The big revelation in “6955 kHz” was that the numbers coincided with locations of pieces of the weapon Walternate (John Noble) and the Fringe team are trying to build. I was surprised by Walter’s change in attitude. Originally against the idea of letting Peter (Joshua Jackson) build the machine, he seemed onboard with the plan after they were able to find some of the other pieces of the weapon.

With the pieces being found, it also means the real Olivia (Anna Torv) isn’t as necessary to the cause as she had thought. Walternate doesn’t need her as much now and that realization kind of freaked her out, as I’m sure it would anyone else. Still, I’m not sure how she’ll manage to get home on her own.
