I feel really bad for Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall). His lack of outward emotions has caused some people, namely Quinn (Desmond Harrington) to wonder if he was responsible for Rita’s (Julie Benz) death. Dex didn’t help himself by saying “it was me” when the police arrived on the scene. His guilt is genuine, but it’s harming his image.

I was feeling uncomfortable coming into this season. There’s no possible way to tell Astor (Christina Robinson) or Cody (Preston Bailey) and not have them be upset. No one can be told something like that and act as though nothing had happened. I wasn’t looking forward to seeing them get back from their little vacation.

I was somewhat surprised when Dexter decided the only way to get out of the situation was to run away. Where did he really think he was going to go? That whole concept put forth seemed far-fetched and ridiculous.

As for Joey Quinn, he’s the only character on this show I can’t stand. The people Dexter kills are more likable. There isn’t a single quality about Quinn that I would consider to be redeeming. He didn’t waste any time in getting into Debra’s (Jennifer Carpenter) pants. He wasn’t offended for more than half a second by the fact that they were going to have sex in a crime scene.

Quinn looks to become all the less likable as his investigation into Dexter continues. Judging by next week’s preview, Quinn comes after Dexter pretty hardcore. I’m looking forward to seeing this tool end up on Dexter’s table.

The season premiere, “My Bad,” wasn’t a bad episode, but it wasn’t great. I frankly can’t imagine a great way to deal with such a loss. The Rita character was important, but the writers pretty much wrote her out of the show over the past few seasons. Once her ex-husband was killed, Rita just didn’t seemed to be as involved in the show.
