In my attempts to catch up with one of my favorite shows, I finally got around to seeing the third episode of the new season and it was a fairly big disappointment. Early episodes of new seasons tend to be little more than set-up episodes, leading to the season finale. Some have more excitement than others, but “It Hurts Me Too” contained too much Bill Compton for my tastes.
It isn’t that I don’t care about Bill, but I don’t feel as though I’m missing any big pieces in Bill’s back story. I didn’t need to see more stuff between he and his wife or he and Lorena. The only purpose it served was to hammer home Lorena was right about not being able to love humans. It’s not a matter that needed so much episode. They’re beating a dead horse at this point with the subject.
As for Bill’s girl, Sookie, she had a full day. In between not working and shooting Eric, Sookie made friends with a new werewolf. Thanks to Eric, Sookie now has a bodyguard for her trip to Mississippi. It’s hard to imagine Alcide will be able to protect Sookie all by himself if he encounters a pack of werewolves. He barely handled one werewolf by himself in that altercation at the bar.

Joe Manganiello as Alcide Herveaux
I couldn’t be happier for Terry and Arlene. It doesn’t sound like Terry is the father, but I don’t remember who Arlene was with when the baby was supposedly conceived. Apparently my mind is slipping.
As for Sam, I’m growing suspicious of his ‘new’ family. The way they showed up was odd and then to find his brother breaking into his office and going through his papers, well, I’m left wondering what sort of scheme the Mickens are up to.
That mysterious vamp named Franklin has turned out to be quite a schemer. When I first saw him, I didn’t imagine he’d be as nosy. He’s digging into everyone’s business and it’s got my imagination working overtime. This guy seems eerie and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Now it’s just a matter of figuring out what Franklin’s job actually is.
“It Hurts Me Too” is fairly standard filler fare. It gave us some more insight into new characters, but very little happened as far as revelations are concerned. I’m eager to see something good happen to Jason. He’s a dumbass, but a likable one. I would love to see him on the police force!
