Last season’s finale left viewers with an incredible cliffhanger: where did Bill Compton disappear to? Everything pointed to a kidnapping, but the only semi-obvious culprit was Eric Northman. The vampire sheriff of the district has plenty to gain with Bill out of the way, namely Sookie Stackhouse.
The season three premiere was quick to answer who was responsible for Bill’s disappearance. Werewolves from neighboring Mississippi took him and headed back home. That is until Bill somehow managed to flip the car he was being transported in and subsequently escaped.
I liked how Jessica didn’t understand that ‘call’ from Bill. She’s new to being a vampire so she doesn’t seem to have a good handle on everything just yet. Jessica’s over her head at the moment. After feeding on someone, she ended up killing him and she’s not sure what to do with the body. She’s in a world of trouble when Bill learns of it. As for her relationship with Hoyt, I’m hopeful. I love these two as a couple.

Last season’s death of Eggs isn’t one that bothers me. I didn’t care for the character. Eggs always seemed like a throw-away character, one we won’t even remember after a brief period. That being said, Eggs’ death came to have quite an effect on Tara and Jason. Jason killed Eggs and it’s really gotten under his skin. Jason’s not the most focused, mature person around so I can’t say that was surprising.
The same can be said for Tara as well. When her suicide attempt was shown at the end, I was frankly hoping it would be successful. The only reason I liked Tara was her sassy attitude in the first season. Season two had her under control by that Maenad so the real Tara was rarely ever depicted. I quickly lost interest in her in that season. Despite this being a new season, I just have no interest in her. The writers wrote her out of the series as far as I’m concerned.
There was so much going on in the season premiere that I almost thought I was watching two episodes. The writers tried to involve every major character and I felt they did a really good job of it. It’s hard getting this many characters on screen in just an hour of TV.
What’s got my attention right now is what Sam is up to. Old Sam Merlotte is trying to reconnect with his family and he managed to find a much younger brother he didn’t seem to be aware of. The conversation Sam and Tommy had was heavy on BS and I think they both knew it. I’m interested in seeing where this goes. I don’t think Sam’s going to be welcomed with open arms, but we’ll see.
If there was anything I didn’t care so much about, it would be the nudity. I don’t mind the female nudity so much, but I don’t need to see Eric Northman’s behind. Thankfully his bits and pieces weren’t shown as well.
