With the series down to just a few episodes remaining, the writers appear to be wrapping up some of the supporting characters. Recently Randy was shown dating Sharona and now Captain Leland Stottlemeyer is getting married. On top of that, they mentioned Natalie was seeing another Navy man.
Adrian didn’t take issue with Leland marrying a woman named Trudy. I can see why Leland was worried about that a few weeks ago, but Adrian’s simple dismissal of the issue made it seemed pretty silly.
With Leland tying the know, Adrian was asked to be the best man. This clearly meant a lot to Adrian, but the first thing that came to mind for me was the lame bachelor’s party Adrian would come up with. This ended up being tamer than even I had anticipated. It was funny, however.

Events picked up pretty quickly when someone began targeting Leland and his bride-to-be, Trudy. They had it all… threatening phone calls, robberies, car fires, etc. They thought of it all to get the point across. I felt a little more effort could have gone into protecting the identity of the guilty party. It was obvious who was behind the acts of violence and why, to some extent.
That being said, the episode as a whole was enjoyavle because of the several lighter moments in the episode. Monk isn’t entirely a drama; there is a fair bit of comedy mixed in to keep things somewhat light.
One of those lighter moments included Randy Disher trying to come up with the wedding music. He went with an interesting choice, but it wasn’t something I’d imagine many people would like. Thankfully the service was brief and the music could be drowned out by the ocean waves to some extent.
I’m glad to see that the supporting characters are getting some attention. Randy, Leland, Sharona, and Natalie are all seeing changes in their lives and I’d say they’re long overdue.
