After last week’s interesting cliffhanger with Debra and Lundy’s lives hanging in the balance, it was good to pick up just about from where we left off with the cops already at the scene of the crime and unfortunately, Lundy didn’t survive. Dexter’s reaction to his sister getting shot was a great moment. I remember in the first season we were supposed to believe that all of his emotions were created just so he could be passed off as a normal person, but hearing Dexter say that “he would be lost” is something that tells us that Dexter loves his sister. Hearing Dexter talk about being lost without Debra though makes me think what kind of monster Dexter would be if he didn’t have family around him.

Lundy will be missed because he was a character that I warmed up too. He was very intriguing and it’s sad that he had to go, but what’s great is that where he left off Dexter decides to take over. It was cool watching him go over Lundy’s notes and trying to figure out the Trinity Killer, Dexter’s analysis was interesting, even though it turned out to be wrong.  Harry was in this episode a lot more than usual. He helped Dexter find The Trinity Killer. What was also interesting that Harry never talked about Dexter lying to Rita, which might be another sign that Harry really is Dexter’s subconscious and only says exactly what Dexter is focused on for the moment.

DEXTER (Season 4)
James Remar as Harry Morgan

Dexter also had personal problems going when Rita finds out that Dexter lied to her about the apartment. It seems like he just can’t hide anything from Rita and she seems pretty pissed about this. It’s getting a bit scary because Rita is now aware of how good of a liar Dexter really is and I wonder if this is going to lead to Rita discovering more about Dexter then he would like.

Then we had Debra, who is a total mess, but can you blame her? Her relationships with men is horrible and she now feels guilty for getting Lundy killed. It is slightly silly for her to feel guilty. However, I think The Trinity Killer would have killed Lundy no matter if Debra was there anyway. Jennifer Carpenter did a fantastic job with her emotions; she is a total wreck and she’s torturing herself now by not taking her pain medication. The talk that Dexter and Debra had was a very good emotional scene. Debra really tried to talk some sense into Dexter and she admitted that she was broken. It was a great emotional bonding scene which also had Dexter admit that he was broken, but not sure if that will have an impact anytime down the line. So great acting from both of them made this one of the best scenes of the season in my opinion.

This isn’t an insult, but the writers might have chosen the wrong season to write in the La Guerta/Batista romance because it just seems so small compared to everything else that’s going on, but maybe that’s what the writers want. Something big did happen here though. LaGuerta playing the noble cop and reporting their relationship seems to have backfired because now Batista has to be relocated to a new division, but at least he gets a promotion, right? It should be interesting to see how all of this is handled and whether Batista will be gone from Homicide or not.

We also had Chris screwing around with reporter once again, Quinn is getting more and more suspicious and I’m finding it extremely suspicious how he’s always the first person to the scene of the crime. I’m also predicting that he’s the one who stole the jewelry and wallets from Debra and Lundy. It’s just a guess. The syphilis thing was cool and it made Quinn’s reporter girlfriend cool again.  I’m curious to know where the writers are going to take Quinn’s relationship because I’m expecting something somewhat big to happen, but it doesn’t look like it is.

DEXTER (Season 4)
Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan

The ending with Dexter going after The Trinity Killer was awesome as Dexter was so close to him, but couldn’t actually catch up with him. There was an interesting look on Dexter as he witnessed the Trinity Killer bludgeoning his victim to death. It was a pretty violent scene and Dexter even seemed shocked. Dexter got so close to him and followed him home only to find out that the Trinity Killer has a wife and kids. I didn’t see this one coming because we often see Trinity by himself. Dexter now can identify with him because as he, said Trinity is like him. I’m wondering what Dexter is going to do now though. He now knows who Trinity is and Trinity has no idea that he’s been discovered.  It’s odd that Dexter knows who the killer of the season is so early in the season and I’m interested to see what they’re going to do to make the rest of the season interesting.

This was a great episode, now I want to see where we go from here; I’m eagerly waiting.
