“Let’s Get Hairy” had all the feeling of a Halloween special, only this came a few weeks too early. Shawn and Gus were approached by Stewart Gimbley (Joshua Malina) at their office. Stewart was convinced he was a werewolf and wanted them to lock him up before he lashed out again during a full moon.
Once the duo was done deciding which was more important: protecting the public from a werewolf or watching professional wrestling, they agreed to keep an eye on them. After falling asleep during the Royal Rumble, Shawn and Gus were woken up by the noise of smashing glass. Their big office window was busted and Stewart was gone. The only shred of evidence he was even there was a strange tuft of grey hair left attached to the shards of glass in the window.
As far as setups go, this was by and far one of the most fascinating PSYCH has done. I knew this guy wasn’t a real werewolf, but I knew I would enjoy figuring out just what was really going on.

Joshua Malina as Stewart Gimbley
While Shawn and Gus were tracking down Stewart, Henry Spencer was trying to win a new pickup truck. Only he had some competition from the force. Shawn dropped by with a care package for dear old dad and offered up a few pointers regarding those who who were competing with him. This story had a cute ending, but it won’t be very memorable.
One of the most surprising things about this episode was Dr. Tucker’s secretary, Myrtle. Her attitude was never really explained throughout all of the crazy stuff that was going on in this episode. I was expecting something pretty nefarious out of Myrtle, but nothing really happened with her. It was all her boss’ doing.
The extent to which Dr. Tucker went to set up Stewart was unbelievable, literally. I had a tough time buying the entire thing. But that didn’t take away from the episode a whole lot. There was so much to take in and enjoy that I was able to overlook this portion of the plot.
Seeing Gus hit on that goth woman wasn’t something I was fully expecting. The lack of any woman in his life is starting to get to me. Shawn has Abigail now and Gus has no one. Shawn usually gives Gus a hard time when he makes a move on a girl, but I think it’s high time for Gus to find someone. Heck, just an occasional date would be nice to see. Let Shawn crack a case with Juliet or Lassy while Gus is enjoying an evening out with a lady.
