The casting announcement that Sendhil Ramamurthy was going to be a part of this episode really excited me. I always did enjoy his work on Heroes, even though I no longer watch the show.

Sendhil played a young Indian-American who seemed to be cursed with love. Anytime he got serious with a young woman something bad would happen to her. I enjoyed that early scene at the police department with Shawn squirming to get out of the interview room when Sendhil’s character Raj told him that he was cursed.

In order to find out who was trying to harm those closest to Raj, the team set up a sting of sorts. It was decided that Juliet and Raj would announce their intent to get married and everyone would wait for the suspect to try and hurt Juliet and catch him/her in the act.

Rachael Leigh Cook returned as Shawn’s girlfriend Abigail. Abigail and Juliet had an awkward conversation that thankfully was interrupted before it got really bad. While I’m glad to see Abigail on the show, I’m not liking the writing. In the high school reunion episode, Abigail was funny, able to keep up with whatever goofy thing Shawn was doing. She hasn’t been nearly as funny since that episode.

As for the case, I knew the disappointed mother was just a red herring after seeing the young woman who was trying to put off her own wedding plans. I knew right then and there that she was responsible for Raj’s lady troubles. While she was getting married to Raj’s brother, as time went by, she fell in love with Raj.

I’m not a frequent eater of Indian food, but I do know that they like spicy food. So that scene where Shawn and Gus were left in tears was a favorite of mine. I’m disappointed with USA’s decision to run that as the promo, however. It was one of the few laugh out loud moments in the episode and they aired almost the entire thing as a commercial.

The bright colors featured on the show was beautiful. It’s not every day that you see such a colorful display like this on television, in HD no less. The DP deserves a pat on the back for how everything looked. I’m really impressed with season four as a whole, in fact.

Rating: 7.9
