Wow, that was quite an episode of PSYCH. I loved the fact that sports are finally being introduced into the show. Seeing Shawn go through his formative years and never playing sports seems unrealistic given the fact that nearly every boy tried sports. The flashback scene was terrific.

The sports infusion continued as we caught up with Shawn and the force throwing back a few at a popular police officer hangout following a game that Shawn nearly lost. Their celebration was cut short when a gunman opened fire on the crowd. Lassiter’s reaction was awesome. He came up with two guns just-a-blazin’. I loved that!

The investigation into the shooting felt like all too familiar territory with Lassiter begrudgingly having to stay out of the action because the shooter seemed to be specifically targeting him.

And the shooting of the supposed suspect was equally suspect. Did anyone really think Lassiter killed the guy? It sounded like Lassiter was shooting at and hit a rat, not a human. It all seemed fishy to me and as Shawn would eventually come around to, the suspect was already dead.

I was right there with them (actually slightly ahead) with picking out the actual shooter. I wasn’t very enthusiastic about the fact that the father of the boy who died because of drugs was the one who was targeting Lassiter and McNabb. It just seemed like a mediocre attempt at trying to surprise the audience with the suspect’s identity. It didn’t work very well in my opinion, even if they did get the casting for the part right.

The biggest shock of this episode came from those terrific scenes on the elliptical machine. The setup was perfect. The suspense was wonderful. I was totally taken on that. I really did think the elliptical was rigged to blow. Silly me. I should have known better. Still, I have to give it to the people at PSYCH for executing that so well. And you know what? Another nod to an eighties film, Lethal Weapon 2.
