I generally don’t approve of the idea of shows taking leaps in time like this. With this episode, the Weeds story jumped ahead by six months. Nancy is definitely showing – she can’t hide the fact that she is pregnant.
I’m also not liking Nancy very much now. She was rather arrogant during her prison visit with Guillermo. And then things didn’t get any better when she told Andy about Esteban proposing. It was really uncomfortable to watch.

Demian Bichir as Esteban Reyes
And as for Andy, he completely blew that huge chunk of money he received. I couldn’t believe it when it was revealed that he spent over a hundred thousand dollars on arcade games and other garbage. At least he got something cool: the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard, but really, even that was a pretty ridiculous thing to buy considering he could have used the money to leave the area and set up somewhere else.
Elsewhere, Silas and Doug are having their issues with the police. The cop that they’ve been paying is pissed that the guys are light in their payments and really it’s his own fault. People don’t want to buy pot with the police around, even if it’s legal. It’s uncomfortable and Doug tried to do something about it.
When Doug’s confrontation was over, I was shocked by what happened. The cop was knocked out cold and Doug suddenly found himself trying to change his recent fascination with all things George Hamilton. His spray-on tan was ridiculous looking. It’s amazing what Kevin Nealon will agree to do.
“A Modest Proposal” was a good episode, better than I was expecting. It had its fair share of surprising moments. I loved Andy’s eventual put down of Nancy, telling her not to come to her when she’s once, twice, three times a widow. That was very clever and well-written. The show can be very good at times.
