Tonight was the season premiere of one of the best shows on television. For months we have been waiting to find out if Lafayette was dead. What is up with Sam and the mystery woman? Will Tara be safe in her new home with her mother figure? Has Jason finally found god? How will Sookie handle the news that Bill has to tell her? All these questions were answered and gave us closure that we have been waiting for.
The season picks up right where we left off. Andy discovered a body in the back of his car. Tara was praying that it wasn’t her beloved cousin. Her fears were realized when the body was revealed. It wasn’t Lafayette but her exorcist! The fake priestess had her heart ripped out violently. Tara was afraid to tell the police that she knew the victim. She thought it would send her mother back to the bottle if she learned the truth. Sookie convinced her to tell the police the truth. The mother was called and couldn’t believe that she was a fraud. Tara tried to explain to her that she wasn’t what she said she was but it wasn’t getting through. Maryanne showed up and gave her real mom some harsh words. Hopefully that was enough to open her eyes.
Maryanne was very busy in this episode. She attempted to hook up Tara with one of her favorites. She became upset when she thought that her efforts were almost ruined by her help. She gave him a good slap for interfering. I wonder what the real reason was for the slap? She eventually succeeded by episodes end when he gave Tara a nice big kiss. We got treated to a flashback about the first time Maryanne and Sam met. It gave clarity to the money situation and made Maryanne into a teenage rapist. Sam thought that was what she wanted back but she told him the money wasn’t what she wanted. Hopefully next week we can find out what she wants.

Deborah Ann Woll as Jessica, Stephen Moyer as Bill Compton
Sookie and Bill had an interesting night. She found out about Jessica and the murder of her great uncle. Jessica was one thing but killing a family member was to much. The best part about this storyline was Jessica. Jessica is becoming fun to watch. You never know what she might say or do. Other than that i couldn’t really got into this part of the story. When Bill was about to lose her he confessed his ever burning love for her. She becomes all sappy and makes gross love together. Their story needed some work but it did its job. That’s to answer our question about her feelings toward Bill’s actions. I’m still intrigued about how Sookie and Jessica will get along. It looks like they will make great friends or great enemies.
The best storyline for this episode was Lafayette and Jason. Lafayette is chained up and some unknown basement. He has been there for quite sometime by the looks of his haircut. He doesn’t know why his there nor does anyone else. He thinks it was his sins that put him there. It turns out that Eric is looking for the people that killed some vampires by fire last season. One of them tried to escaped and hit Eric with a cross. Eric got very angry and ripped him to pieces. It looks like Lafayette might end up dead after all.
Meanwhile, Jason is trying to find his way into god’s hands. He decided to join the church against vampires and turned over a new leaf. He no longer is looking for sex with strangers and doing V. He is becoming a changed man or a Mormon. With the new-found money that he has in his possession, he will get the tools he needs to become a full-fledged member. I wonder how this will effect his interactions with Bill? Only time will tell.
I liked this episode a lot. I thought it would have more action but most of the story lines were entertaining enough for me to forgive them. All of the actors were on point and you can tell they enjoy their job. This season looks promising and I can’t wait for future episodes. You have to wonder if that rumor about Rene is true. Would the vampires actually do that?

I just started watching this series last week thanks to the Bluray release. I wasn’t sure if I was going to enjoy it, but I ended up loving it. It’s not my favorite show, but it’s definitely up there with a few others right now.
I was surprised by Jessica’s interest in becoming friends with Sookie. She’s such an immature young woman and I figured she would have made another smartass remark to Sookie when she offered to have a little girl time the next day. I’m more interested in seeing this play out than anything else.
I wasn’t so enthusiastic about Sookie’s brother turning over a new leaf. As much of a pig as he was in the first season, he can be a fun character. His new interest in that religious group is a sure-fire way to cause problems with Sookie and Bill eventually.
Maryanne and Sam’s story was shocking, but it didn’t prove to be as interesting as I had hoped it would be.
