So, Michael has a name for his bomber. Now, all he needs to do is find him, and for that he’ll need a little help. Enter Fiona’s semi-insane gun runner friend Seymour–someone Michael didn’t last meet with on good terms. But, luckily, Seymour doesn’t hold a grudge. Well, not that if he did he’d be able to do anything about his friend Michael Westen–not with Jackass, his not-so-very-bright bodyguard, around. About the only thing he seems to do good with are mango smoothies. But, don’t get me wrong, I was glad to have the two of them back on the show. Seymour is just one of those characters, like Virgil or Agent Bly, that you want around to make our protagonist’s job slightly more difficult.
It was ironic, I thought, that both Fiona and Michael had a go at Jackass. Of course, I expected Seymour to yell for his security when Michael and Fi showed up. But, I didn’t expect Fiona to nearly lay Jackass out, nor did I expect Seymour to pull a gun on Mike. The thing is, though, if Jackass is mainly for show, why doesn’t Seymour hire more bodyguards? Maybe he’s cheap, or maybe keeping all those deliciously hot babes around the pool costs a lot of money. I’m thinking the latter. Then, come to think of it, who’d want to work for a semi-insane guy like Seymour? Poor Jackass. He just can’t get a break. Then again…Michael sure did a number on his nose. Yet, I completely understand his reasoning for wanting to stop Jackass from putting that tracking bug on the bomber’s girlfriend’s car; those mafia guys were already noticing him. If he’d had put that tracking bug there…who knows what would’ve happened. Probably nothing good.
For the burn notice part of this episode, Michael didn’t really have much to do but keep Seymour and his friend in check. Luckily, the girlfriend went for some “together time” with her bomber boyfriend, which led Seymour to the house where he was holed up. Makes me wonder if Seymour wasn’t spying on the couple when they were doing the…ya know. Anyhow. We had to wait until the conclusion of the show to see Michael get at the bomber. Yet, to even get this far, he had to get some money for Seymour, so that he could use it to get information out of people. Naturally, Mike got the money through another side-job–one that ended up being, I think, one of the best to date.

Joel Gretsch as Scott Chandler
And, what could’ve been easier than to help an art dealer rid himself of a spy? Right. As we know, that didn’t go exactly as planned. Mike ended up having to help the said spy. Then again, Chandler, the art dealer, didn’t exactly seem the kind of guy to have someone murdered. I had had a feeling, though, that something wasn’t quite right. Also, I had suspected the sweet and, excuse me, hot-looking secretary, Melanie, may of had something to do with what was going on. It was only natural. I just hadn’t suspected her reason for snooping around after hours. Nice guy, that Chandler, but he sure got his in the end. That brings me to something else that was a surprise for me.
Chandler’s accomplice in his scheme to murder Melanie’s father ended up being the guy who used to play Mr. Friendly on LOST. I thought that was sort of ironic. Here he plays another badass–only this time ’round he has a hankering for women. Fiona, though, was too much for him to handle. I laughed myself silly at Sam’s unsuccessful attempts at breaking down the hotel room’s door, too, only to have Fiona open it for him after she’d already laid out Chandler’s accomplice.
One other thing I think worth mentioning is how well the show’s writers were able to create a believable situation in which Chandler would become as extremely paranoid as he did–not to mention trust Michael as much as he did towards the end. Like he said, “No one can create as much fear and paranoia as the spy-hunter.” Indeed. I’ll go with that. Anyway.
Seek and Destroy’s ending, to me, was satisfying. The bomber was finally caught. Michael and Fi’s relationship, thanks to Seymour, is back on more stable ground; it’s amazing what a gift like personalized throwing daggers can do. And another bad guy got what was due him courtesy of Michael Westen and friends. The only downside was that Madeline was nowhere to be found. Oh well, I’m sure we’ll see more family issues in upcoming episodes.
