Wow. It’s hard to believe Fox even bothered to continue airing this show. Prison Break has been off the air since December, for crying out loud and they’re finally bringing it back now that Terminator has run its course.
It was a smart move to re-air episode sixteen prior to this one because it’s frankly been a very long time since the show has been on television that much of the story isn’t quite in the front of my mind.
After escaping from the general’s little retreat, Michael and Sara were on the run for quite a bit of time in this episode, trying to get away from people who work for the general as well as Michael’s mother.

Dominic Purcell as Lincoln, Kathleen Quinlan as Christina
The episode title gives away the fact that the mother of Michael and Lincoln had quite a big role in the episode. She’s a strong character, but I can’t help but think that she has a lot of work to do and her boys are now in her way.
The conversation between Lincoln and his mother was pretty simple. She lied through her teeth (convincingly, I might add) that she wanted to get rid of the general and really change the way things were done at the company. Gone would be the days of savagery.
Judging by what Bagwell, Mahone, and Self discovered, mommy dearest may not have peace on her mind after all. The boys found a nice stash of automatic weapons and special coded security keys that would presumably help the users take over the company.
The ending was intriguing with Lincoln about to be shot. I seriously doubt he will be killed. I don’t see Lincoln being put down by his mother, although I wouldn’t mind seeing it happen. He’s a very one dimensional character and is one of my least favorite characters on any TV show.
All that being said, I thought “The Mother Lode” did do a decent job of setting up the rest of the season. There was suspense, intrigue, action… all things you expect in an episode of Prison Break.
