“Nancy Does Dallas” was a pretty good episode to take a break with. King of the Hill only has a few episodes left for the season (and series) and I would have to consider this episode to be fairly typical for the show; all of the main characters seem to be themselves with one exception.
Dale’s wife Nancy doesn’t often get made the central character of an episode and this was really the only thing that made this episode seem a little unusual. We’ve all known Nancy to be a little crazy at times, but I wasn’t expecting her to become as ambitious as she turned out to be when the opportunity to work in the big city of Dallas.

While Nancy had her eyes on the big prize of being the sole anchor at a big affiliate in Dallas, her husband Dale was in all sorts of trouble back in Arlen. Dale has always been a conspiracy nut and often looks to the future. So it fit the character nicely when he was shown fitting his house and garage with window air conditioners, trying to prepare his body for the extreme cold the next ice age would bring about.
Sure enough, Dale overloaded the electric system in the house and was forced to “borrow” electricity from the Hill family, only to be nailed by a book courtesy of Bobby.
It all came together quite nicely considering the relative poor quality in recent King of the Hill episodes. Still, the show hasn’t made me burst out laughing in quite a while. This has been a sore spot for this series for some time though.
