This episode was good for the most part. It was something different from the previous episodes. We got to see different sides of the mostly serious characters. It was a breathe of fresh air to see these characters acting silly and childish. The writer for this episode did a good job putting it together. Some of the actors fall flat on what they needed to express but it all turned out okay. Dollhouse is getting more and more watchable.

There is a big problem over at Echo’s old campus. It seems like a virus that turns adults into childish idiots was let loose. One of the victims went super crazy and killed himself by banging his head into glass several times. The scene wasn’t chilling but still disturbing for those who aren’t into the horror genre. The creator of the virus needs a team of dolls to go inside and the infection. The dolls can’t be infected because they have no memory of a childhood or anything for that matter. They send Echo on a separate assignment with an old friend of hers. It seems as though things were going to get interested when Echo turns the TV on and sees the news report. She gets a quick glimpse of her old self and is impaled to help the other dolls. She leaves her friend all tied up and leaves her assignment. Things aren’t looking good for the dollhouse.

Speaking of the house, they were in a bit of a crisis as well. Their super soldier Mellie almost lost her mind completely and killed everyone. Too bad she was too depressed over Paul to do it. Adelle and Topher was also under the spell. They acted quite silly and amusement to this episode. It was interesting seeing Adelle acting foolish. Lets hope they don’t let her do it again.

Echo arrives at the campus and is immediately mistaken for the infected. She is taken back for treatment. She meets Sam, played by Mehcad Brooks. He is interested in helping her with her cause. Echo needs to help someone from her past. We get to see flashbacks of her former self which adds an interesting back story. How long has Echo been under the Dollhouse spell? It looks like she has been for quite awhile. Everyone is getting affected with this virus; agents, Boyd, and even the dolls. The dolls are different though. Instead of memory loss, they have glitches or flashbacks. These flashbacks are intense and almost cost two of them their lives. Echo finally reaches her destination and inadvertently helps Sam with his. He used echo to retrieve the virus so he can sell it to another company. He attacks Echo and gives her a very high dosage of the material.

He tries to escape but Echo follows him. She gets intense flashbacks of her last visit at the campus. She has to watch her friend die all over again. She finally catches him when Boyd knocks him out cold. Echo agrees to do the treatment and is taking to safety. Sam however was not. It looks as though we may have a new doll in the house.

This episode didn’t feature much of Paul but for good reason. They really didn’t have much time for him and his storyline. Besides that and some of the mellow acting by the supporting actors, this episode was pretty good. it was a nice setup for next week episode where it looks like everyone gets their real memory back. After that episode who knows where Dollhouse will go next. This episode however didn’t put me to sleep and was better than their earlier ones. Let’s hope Dollhouse doesn’t skip a step.

  1. I wasn’t expecting to see Topher strip down to his shorts like that. I thought that was a bit much, but Topher’s a wild guy too.
