This was one of the best episodes I’ve seen all year. For a show that doesn’t know how to keep the thrills coming, this episode delivered on all levels. They had many twists and turns that surprised me. They went to a darker version than I thought. The end result equaled a better quality show that is worth checking out from now on.
It begins with some colorful insight about the dollhouse. It seems as though this place is an urban legend or at least a myth in many people’s eyes. Their interviews were cute and sometimes gross. It showed how many perverted people are out there and it makes for one creepy atmosphere. I enjoyed the interviews. It added something special to the show. It gave the show more depth and something new to watch.

Patton Oswalt, Eliza Dushku
As for the story lines, they were also intriguing. There were three major story lines happening this episode. The first one was about Victor and Sierra. Sierra accuses Victor of raping her while in the dollhouse. This is a huge surprise because the dolls aren’t suppose to have a sex drive. Looks like someone made a huge mistake. There is a full blown investigation until Boyd smartens up. He realizes it isn’t possible for any of the dolls to do this. He sets up the real culprit and boy was it a real surprise. Once caught, he is given a choice. Either kill someone or go to the attic. If I were him, I would have chosen the attic. What is the attic, anyway? Whatever it is, it can’t be good.
Echo was sent on two different missions. The first one was a major bust. Only because Paul decided to make an unexpected visit. He finally finds what he is looking for but was no way near ready for the confrontation. This sequence was both interesting and funny. Eliza Dushku did a great job with this persona. The whole porn thing was funny. She can really play a dumb blond and she wasn’t even a blond. Paul did have a meaningful conversation with her buyer that showed not everyone is a pervert. Some do have good reasons why they use the dollhouse. Their second encounter however, wasn’t so pretty. Echo returned as an assassin to kill Paul. They had a great fight that pushed the boundaries of inter-gender violence. In the end, Paul finds out that he has a friend inside of dollhouse. Who it is remains a secret but i have my suspicions as do you.
The third storyline evolved around Paul. He finally hooks up with his neighbor. After episodes of flirting and teasing, they finally get it on in bed. We find out that she works for the dollhouse. They portrayed the mystery of his neighbor very well. I really couldn’t tell if she was one of the dolls or not. By episode’s end we find out the truth in a very disturbing way. She proves to be a bad ass and I’m wondering where her relationship with Paul will lead.
This episode was a major step up from last week. It had action and it told an amazing story. I hope that this trend keeps up with future episodes. This episode doesn’t feature Alpha for obvious reasons but it would of been interesting to see how he would have fit in this episode. Next week looks promising and I hope it delivers. There are 20 dollhouses in the world! Now that’s crazy!
