This past Friday brought forth the death of Kevin Dorfman (Jarrad Paul), a character that hasn’t appeared very often in quite a while. He’s only appeared on the show four or five times in over one hundred episodes. I’ve never liked the character because of how he would go on and on about virtually everything. This was also something Adrian Monk and Natalie Teeger disliked about him. This is why I was surprised by their reaction to his death.
Kevin Dorfman died thanks to a magician named The Great Torini (Steve Valentine) who had gotten involved in the drug trade and Dorfman got a little too close in figuring it out.
I’ve never been very impressed by crime shows which have the criminal being a magician. I don’t know why the writers even bother anymore. Yeah, there are usually some good magic tricks shown, but the magicians are universally arrogant and believe they can get away with anything, specifically murder.
There were a few funny moments, but by and large, I couldn’t get a grasp on why Natalie (especially) was so sadden and distraught by the death of Kevin Dorfman. The character wasn’t beloved by Natalie or Adrian, and yet, they acted like Leland was killed. It just didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me.
