Sunday’s episode of King of the Hill didn’t have the most original story in the history of the show. It felt rather familiar with Hank trying to save Buck Strickland’s behind once again.

Buck was set to be inducted into the Propane Hall of Flame, but Buck and his new-found bastard son wound up spending all of their time getting drunk and spending time with strange women. Hank just couldn’t do anything to stop their bad behavior.

Meanwhile, Peggy was trying to warm up to the wives of the big propane company CEOs. She knows that being in their good graces would be good for both she and Hank. Hank, however, would hurt Peggy’s chances of any sort of friendship when he got drunk, told off Buck during his introduction speech, and then threw up on one of the wives.

Seeing Hank drunk was both sad and funny at the same time. This was all very much out of character for Hank. He rarely touches booze, but he had way too much of it and it really affected him.

As I stated earlier, the plot didn’t seem to be all that original. Hank regularly tries to save Buck’s behind and rarely gets anything good in return. He finally got a little reward this week by getting inducted into the Hall of Flame, himself. Sure, there was some blackmail going on, but I have to say that Hank deserves the honor. He’s done more for propane and propane accessories than just about anyone on the show.

Rating: 5.5
