I guess when I think about it, we really could have gone without certain things in this episode. Ted has never been too deep of a character or one that the writers ever wanted to give more depth, but even though it wasn’t needed, it’s still a good episode that feels like Ted’s ending.

There were only two storylines happening in this episode and the first saw Ted fall in love with the girl who sings for the pediatrics unit. The problem is that Ted is one of the most socially awkward people in the world. One thing has always been certain on the show and it’s that everyone cares about Ted, so everyone kind of watches over him. This week J.D. and The Janitor ally to help Ted conquer his fear and try to get him to ask the girl out.

I have to say it’s starting to feel like The Janitor is being forced on us. He’s a character that’s good in small doses, so it wasn’t the coolest thing to have him on two episodes in a row. There was the usual banter between Janitor and J.D. Nothing that we haven’t seen before, the real pairing was Ted and Stephanie, who are definitely quite a pair (even though Stephanie is too young for him). One of the best lines had the two communicating through song, and Stephanie saying that she wanted to screw him. It was interesting see a whole episode based off of Ted, because I think this is the first time where he’s been at the center of an episode, but it was pulled off well and in the end Ted got the girl.

The other storyline had Dr. Cox still trying find some way to do what he used to do, while doing his Chief of Medicine duties. It might just be me, but I’m finding this storyline depressing — good, but depressing. It’s admirable to see Dr, Cox try to do everything at once, but it’s obvious that it’s not going to happen or he’s going to have to give up more stuff. We did finally start to see a shift in that happening, with Dr. Cox letting Carla do the nursing schedule and in the greatest move of all we saw him finally fire Ed.

We’re not sure if Dr. Cox being overwhelmed will continue to pop up through out the season, but hopefully he gets a handle on it soon, but it’ll be alright if there’s more of it in the next couple of episodes. It was kind of disappointing that Carla was in this episode, but there was no Elliot and no Turk at that which is really weird, considering there was no Carla last episode, but Elliot and Turk were there.

This episode was a success and while it might not be one that you’ll think of when we think about Scrubs say five to ten years from now, it’s still a solid episode that helped a character that we do like find love.
