This week’s Monk had Adrian in an unusual place. He had to face one of his childhood bullies, Roderick Brody (Noah Emmerich). Brody was responsible for giving Adrian swirlies on a regular basis in the seventh grade. Their meeting was a little out of the ordinary because the bully asked Adrian for help and Adrian wanted revenge. The idea of him proving the bully’s wife is having an affair is something he was quite pleased about.
It didn’t take Adrian long to focus on the job. He was essentially being paid to make Brody upset and angry about his wife’s affair. It’s not often we see this side of Adrian. I don’t mind it so much because I’m tired of seeing the sad, whiny Monk.
Adrian and Natalie tracked down Brody’s wife, Marilyn Brody (Julie Bowen) who was having lunch with another man. Adrian came prepared with a camera, but the film expired some thirty years ago so it was useless when it was developed.

Julie Bowen
Coincidentally enough, just hours after Brody learned that his wife was cheating on him, it looked as though Brody killed his wife’s lover. It of course wasn’t quite that straight forward. Brody confessed his innocence and I happened to believe him. His wife was responsible for the murder… well, sort of.
It was actually her evil twin. Yeah, what a way to throw in a twist, right? An evil twin. What are the odds? I didn’t see that one coming. I didn’t think Monk would go down that lame route.
Still, I didn’t mind the whole evil twin so much. I had a crush on Julie Bowen when she starred on NBC’s Ed back in 2000 and she still looks great. So two of her isn’t so bad, now is it?
The problem with having twins is shooting them. In Julie Bowen’s case, she doesn’t have a twin sister, so there were a number of tricky camera shots and that can make for some ugly shots and it wasn’t edited particularly well either.
