The pilot episode introduced us to Nate Ford (Timothy Hutton) and we all saw that he was a drunk, but I didn’t expect it would become a problem on the show. In recent weeks, it’s become an issue, not just between Nate and Sophie, but Nate’s drinking has upset Eliot too.
The new job of the week had Team Leverage helping a guy with a drinking problem. He ripped off a charity and a few international gangs to boot. They’re all after the guy and Hardison and Eliot do their best to hold them off.

Timothy Hutton, Aldis Hodge, Gina Bellman, Christian Kane and Drew Powell
Sophie took advantage of a new job to put Nate into rehab and I loved seeing him going through withdrawal. I don’t have much sympathy for addicts and Nate is definitely an addict who refuses to admit he has a problem. It gets to a point where he even begins hallucinating, swearing that he sees one of his enemies, Sterling.
I still enjoy Parker, but I don’t like it when she’s put into a situation where she has to come up with a story. She’s very childish and unimaginative. I can see how some may see her poor acting ability to be funny, but I find it distracting. Let her be a girl of action. I loved her in the first episode, especially when she flew off the roof with that cable harness on. If it’s one thing this show needs, it’s action. This week’s action came in the form of an explosion which was brilliantly pulled off in typical Leverage trickery.
I’m glad that the guest character of the week wasn’t all bad. He had a heart in the end. He used his money to help people and I can respect that.
Still, what I don’t like is Nate Ford. He’s supposed to be the show’s most stable character, while all of the others are supposed to have issues with one another. This show’s turning out to be a bit different than what it was introduced in December. I don’t like Nate’s drinking problem. I don’t feel as though it’s necessary in any light. I understand he lost his son and all, but giving him a drinking problem is just too easy and lazy on the writers part. This is a very smart show, but the genius comes and goes.
