Wow, Lost turned out one of the best episodes this series has seen last night. Despite being in some intense back pain, I was glued to my seat (when I wasn’t moving around, trying to get comfortable), soaking in everything I could.

I like the show best when I’m learning things along with the rest of the Oceanic survivors. I don’t like it when I (and the rest of the viewers) are two steps ahead and all of the survivors are catching up. This happens sometimes when one group of survivors is somewhere else on the island and the other half learns more about a particular event.

We never got to see what Jack, Sayid, etc were up to this week. We stuck to the island and then to what Desmond was up to. Desmond, of course, was asked by Daniel Faraday to find his mother at Oxford. Despite going there, she wasn’t there. Desmond did, however, get to meet some of Faraday’s other family members, including a sister who is confined to a bed. It was revealed that Charles Widmore had been responsible for funding Faraday’s research and then has helped pay for his sister’s medical treatments. It sounds like his sister was somehow harmed by Daniel’s experiments.

Alexandra Krosney as Ellie

Having gotten off the island, Desmond and Penelope have been a little busy. They had a child together and they aptly named him Charlie. I loved that.

On the island, we find Daniel, Charlotte, and Miles all getting captured by that new group of people we didn’t know much about. But after some help from Juliet, we all learn that these are all Others. They’ve been at this island for some time, along with Richard, who seems to have always been around. The man never ages.

The Others have been protecting the island from the U.S. military who have been conducting H-bomb experiments in the pacific and one of the bombs has a crack in it, exposing radiation. It’s already killed one person and one of the Others has gotten burned by it. Daniel suggested covering the thing in lead and burying it, which would make sense.

Locke finally got his meeting with Richard. I admit that this was something I’ve been looking forward to since the big season premiere. John had a difficult time of convincing Richard that he is in fact Richard’s leader. John told him to come and see him in a few years. He told him when he was being born and where. This made me recall Richard’s little visit he paid John a while back. Remember: he tested John at his home.

Jeremy Davies as Daniel Faraday

I was surprised that Charlotte told Dan that he didn’t have to say that he loved her. She’s known for a while now that Daniel has been attracted to her. It’s not like this came out of nowhere. And now it looks like Charlotte’s health is deteriorating quickly. I’d really hate to lose her. She’s about the last person I want to see leave Lost right now.

There were numerous revelations in “Jughead”, but the one about Charles Widmore being one of the Others was quite surprising. I’m guessing Ellie and Charles end up getting together and having a child, Daniel Faraday. This would make sense for why Charles would be funding Faraday’s crazy experiments: Daniel is Charles Widmore’s son!

Now that a new flash has taken place, I wonder where they all are now. The future? The past? Whenever it is, we know that the Others seem to have disappeared… from that camp site at least. I’m very intrigued to learn more about the young Charles Widmore and how he came to be on that island the first time.

I doubt I’m the only one who loves this episode. It had a little bit of everything in it for everyone.

  1. I think it’s funny how Carlton and Damon once said LOST had nothing to do with time travel. Heck, it’s got everything to do with it! And I like the way it’s done on this show–somehow it doesn’t seem old hat.
