“Cabin Fever” is easily one of my favorite episodes from the fourth season of Lost. It not only contains a fair amount of action, but it also does a good job of setting up the last few episodes of the season. It serves its purpose quite well.

Martin Keamy’s (Kevin Durand) orders to kill everyone on the island ratcheted up a bit in this episode. His crew had to go back to the freighter to bring a wounded crew member back and get more gear. They loaded up the chopper but not before killing the doctor as a threat to Frank Lapidus (Jeff Fahey) when he refused to fly them back to the island.

Terry O’Quinn as John Locke

Sayid (Naveen Andrews) took off in a small boat to begin ferrying people off the island, but that little boat won’t hold many passengers. He’ll have to make quite a few trips.

Keamy’s opening of that locker in the captain’s room enabled him to look at Ben’s (Michael Emerson) backup plan. He got to see where Ben was headed to (The Orchid). This made me wonder even more about what Ben and Charles Widmore (Alan Dale) are up to. It’s almost like a bizarre game of life and death and they seem to have established rules which were broken when Alex (Tania Raymonde) was killed.

Seeing that orderly (Lance Reddick as Matthew Abaddon) was quite surprising in the flash-back scenes of John Locke (Terry O’Quinn). I never liked most of these scenes, perhaps because the significance of them hasn’t been made apparent yet. Abaddon told John to go on that Australian walkabout when he was in his wheelchair and then told him that when they see each other again, that John will owe him one. I can’t wait to see what happens when these two meet again.

Emilie de Ravin as Claire Littleton

Locke, Ben, and Hurley (Jorge Garcia) finished their search for the cabin. They took quite a while, requiring them to find the body of Horace, the person who built Jacob’s little cabin. Seeing Christian (John Terry) and Claire (Emilie de Ravin) there was incredible. The relaxed manner in which Claire was sitting was just plain creepy, although I’m sure the lighting was partially responsible for that. Now they have their next mission: move the island.

Nice. This was an incredible sequence of scenes, made all the better with a cute little scene outside the cabin where Hurley shared his candy bar with Ben. Again, this was one of my favorite episodes of the season, but it only gets better.

Rating: 8.7
