In retrospect, my rating of an 8.7 for the previous episode was a little high. Truth is, I’m not all that pleased with the Self turning on everyone. It wasn’t that surprising and I can’t possibly see how this new twist is going to make the show any more compelling.
Once Lincoln Burrows got caught by the feds, I was hoping the feds would actually listen to him and come to the realization that Self turned on everyone. I couldn’t bear the idea of the feds pursuing Michael and company all over again. It would have been a truly lame story. But the writers didn’t abandon that idea entirely. There was a moment where the feds turned on Michael and Lincoln and tried to bury any evidence of the operation as it wasn’t approved by congress and would have gotten a senator and the DHS agent some serious jail time.

Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies, L) takes care of Michael (Wentworth Miller, R)
The drama around the Company is heating up with the general killing one of the card holders when he questioned the general very openly and persistently. It wasn’t too surprising that the general killed him; it served as a message to the others.
I’m having a little trouble buying the idea that Gretchen cares about her daughter. The threats by Self and T-Bag don’t really bother me so much. I feel for the daughter and Gretchen’s sister than Gretchen herself. She deserves to be in the position she happens to be in.
Don Self wasn’t feeling quite himself when he learned that part of Scylla was missing. It was taken by Michael before the exchange and it’s a good thing that he did what he did. It’s hard to say what Self will do if/when he manages to sell Scylla. Now that he knows that Scofield has the missing piece, it looks like Self is about to go to war with Scofield. I wasn’t too impressed by the preview of next week though. I prefer strategy and mind games more than raw firepower.
