Thankfully “Straight as an Arrow” took us outside of Hank Hill’s place of work. Sometimes it can be tough to deal with all of what goes on there. There’s much more to Arlen and its residents than propane and propane accessories.
With the city’s welcome wagon in trouble, Peggy stood up and took over the welcome committee. I thought she would be a pretty good fit, but she would eventually have to step down as it took up a lot of her time. The welcome wagon story did allow for a little adventure for Bobby and some of the town’s other young boys.

The Order of the Straight Arrow is similar to the Boy Scouts of America, but the new leader of the Arlen chapter took an approach which Hank didn’t appreciate. The way that the Straight Arrow club was handled reminded me of some of the things we adults are doing that seems to be making our children weaker than we were… a phenomenon I refer to as the pussification of America’s children.
I was rather surprised to see Luanne and Lucky this week. They’ve not been on the show much recently for some reason. I don’t know if it’s a problem with scheduling or what the deal is, but I think they should be in more episodes. Their plot this week was a little lame though. Since very few people gave them wedding gifts, Luanne and Lucky went around demanding gifts on the spot.
Luanne and Lucky’s brief subplot was kind of a waste of time. There wasn’t a whole lot of humor within it. The main plot surrounding the Straight Arrow group was much more interesting. Sure, there wasn’t a whole lot of funny material there, but I still found it entertaining. It all fit in with a plot I was interested in seeing and it’s nice to actually have Bobby Hill in a prominent role once in a while.
