This episode has to be the best one yet, a major step up from the last one. This entire episode was dedicated to the Bennet family and rightfully so. Ted and Parkman take the Bennet family hostage. They aren’t leaving until they get answers and boy, Ted isn’t joking. After Bennet tries to smarten up by thinking in Japanese, Ted gets angry. He threatens to kill Bennet’s wife if he doesn’t start giving up some answers. Matt believes he is going too far. Matt doesn’t want to kill anyone and he pleads with Ted not to. Bennet tells Matt that Claire can heal. Matt reluctantly shoots Claire. It’s a good thing too because he tells Bennet that he heard Ted pull the trigger on his wife in his head. They take Claire upstairs and together they figure out a plan.
Bennet takes Matt Parkman to the paper factory to get some answers. Instead, Bennet tells Parkman that he is going to give Ted a tranquilizer to knock him out. Matt reminds him that Ted will not stop until he gets some answers. The Haitian shows up and gets a stern talking to by Bennet. Bennet learns that he can speak and finds out that the Haitian is working for a higher power. I wonder who that can be.

They return home only to find that their plan has been compromised. Ted learned that Claire can heal and is aware that Matt had switched sides. Matt convinces Ted not to go postal and just take the information that Bennet has brought. He does so and Bennet begins to explain when an unexpected visitor shows up and shoots Ted in the shoulder. This was a very bad idea because Ted begins to explode like a bomb!
Ted gets too hot for any normal human to get close enough to stop him. Claire insists that she is the one that can get it done. She takes the tranquilizer and walks over to Ted before the house goes boom. This sequence was very well done and it looks like he could have been part of an action movie. Claire walks away all burnt up but is healing with each step. By show’s end, the company knows about Claire and they want to take her in but Bennet has other plans. He tells the Haitian to take care of her and allows him to shot him and take his memory. It ends with Claire crying her pretty little eyes out.
We were also treated with some back story about Bennet and the company. Claude was once Bennet’s partner who helped him take other people with special abilities. Hiro’s father is also part of the company and was there when the company handed over Claire as a baby. Claude warned Bennet that one day the company was going to take her from him, but like a true soldier, he wouldn’t listen. Bennet was ordered to kill Claude because of a security breach. He was protecting someone with special abilities. It’s no wonder Claude has trust issues.
I truly enjoyed this episode from beginning to end. It gave us some back story without going too far back and was able to answer a lot of questions. It also left us with some things to think about. What will happen with Matt and Ted now that they are captured? Where will Claire and the Haitian go? Who was the person Claude was protecting? With just six episodes left, I hope some of our questions are answered.
