Yay, we’re back to a normal episode, with the traditional Simpsons opening. It’s strange when you miss this sort of thing, but the Halloween specials tend to open with their own thing.

While driving to a cabin for their honeymoon, Homer and Marge find themselves picking up hitch hikers who remind them of themselves. It brings back memories of when Marge and Homer were young and in love and got picked up by Ned and Maude Flanders. Wow, it’s nice to see Maude return, even for one episode. It’s sad that Ned is all on his own now. He’s not included in weekly episodes nearly as much as he used to be as a consequence of losing his wife.

Flashback episodes are always a little tough to stomach because the timeline has been messed with so much over the years that you’re not sure what to believe anymore. It’s all about who met who, where, when, and how. Sometimes the writers forget what had already been established. With twenty seasons of story, I honestly can’t keep it all straight anymore. But this didn’t matter.

Much of “Dangerous Curves” was generally not worth watching. There weren’t very many laughs contained in the episode. Hands down, the most enjoyable thing to watch was Bart and Lisa driving that little pedal car, turning into an old married couple. That was a refreshing subplot considering much of this episode was not very funny and focused more on heart than comedy.
