Supernatural took a slight detour once again from the main plot of keeping the seals from being unlocked, but that’s kind of what Supernatural does. This is one of those episodes where the Winchester boys go to a town and solve the local supernatural event. What could have been the average supernatural “mystery of the week” turns into something that’s a bit out of the ordinary. During this episode, we saw a talking bear, an invisible boy, and geeky guy married to a hot chick; oh and did I mention that the bear is suicidal.
Dean and Sam find themselves in a town where wishes are actually coming true. The idea of wishes coming true might not be so bad, but after a while these wishes end up being too much for one person to handle and they end up having bad side effects. We’re introduced to Audrey who wished that her bear could come to life. The bear is alive and talking, but he’s depressed and suicidal. A talking stuffed animal might be the weirdest and funniest sight we’ve seen on Supernatural and for a show that’s shown us just about everything of the supernatural, that’s saying a lot. If you want to see a stuffed teddy bear attempt to commit suicide, then this is the episode for you.

Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester
To reverse all the wishes, Dean and Sam have to find the person who made the first wish which leads them Wesley who has a fiancée that loves him more then anything. The suspicious part is that the fiancée is actually hot, while Wesley has more of a geeky look. It was kind of a sad story because Wesley was hopelessly in love, but ends up being forced to give it up to undo the wrong that all the other wishes were causing. It’s always great to see Ted Raimi in a role and usually we’re shown his comedic side whenever we do see him, but it was cool to see him play somewhat of a more emotional role.
The issue of Dean remembering what hell was like was brought back also with Sam pressing Dean about the info. Dean pretends not to remember and he actually seems pretty convincing, but the nightmares end up being a giveaway. I thought Sam would use the wishing well to find out about Dean’s time in hell, but he didn’t. Dean used the well to get a sandwich and that didn’t turn out so well though. In the end, Dean does tell Sam he remembers what happens, but that what he saw was so disturbing that he just couldn’t tell Sam. Dean as a character is mostly fearless, but whenever he does show fear Jensen Ackles nails the emotion down really well.
All the rest of the wishes that came true were pretty entertaining. We had a little boy who wished for super strength to knock Dean out and Dean and Sam hit the invisible boy with his car. All of this was pretty funny. We also saw Dean and Sam stoop to using the lowest aliases ever by pretending to be teddy bear doctors. This episode was out of the ordinary and that’s a good thing. It did a good job of distracting us from the main storyline. It’s okay to divert from the main plot line of stopping Lilith and stopping the seals just as long as we keep getting neat episodes like this. While not main plot material, it was still a good episode.
