The election finally came and David Alan Grier (DAG) nearly did the same. He and the rest of the audience celebrated the election results at the top of the show and pleaded with Barack Obama to not screw it up. If he were to fail, it would ruin everything.
The correspondent pieces were better in this episode than in the previous ones. Sure, there was a little more immature/toilet humor used in some of them, but it’s all still quite funny. I loved that “Poots” bit about the musician who had an instrument shoved up his behind and began playing beautiful music. I’m a little embarrassed by the number of times I laughed during that segment, but I couldn’t help myself.
DAG’s closing statements are always funny. He gets some very funny lines to work with when he goes on about what Chocolate News covers… this week he stated it covers everything “from pickin’ cotton in the sun to riding on Air Force One.” Haha, very clever, DAG.

At first, I really truly wanted to like “Chocolate News” but as the season moved on, DAG continuously played into negative black stereotypes in a way that wasn’t innovative or especially creative whatsoever. Of course, all comedy is based on political incorrectness and not turning a blind eye to the truthful aspect of stereotypes, but this show was just a dud. I’m not surprised it was canceled prematurely. I hope DAG finds a better project in the future, because he has proved he has more potential in the past.
