This week we finally get the answer to to the pregnant Jan scenario. Michael prepares to give Jan a baby shower since he believes she’s due to give birth any day, but when Jan finally shows up, we realize that she has already given birth and denied Michael the option of being present. It is in this episode that we finally see how truly evil Jan is and that Michael has seen it as well.

Michael tries holding the baby, Astrid, which he thinks is pronounced Assturd, and realizes that he has no connection to this baby because it is not his. Though the baby isn’t his, he’s still willing to father it if Jan allows him to but it’s clear that if she let’s him do anything for her, it is only to use and abuse him. The final straw is when she asks Michael to do her one favor and never date Holly. She must have realized they had a connection when he continuously called Holly names–weirdo, smelly like old tomatoes and dirt–so Jan wouldn’t get jealous of Holly’s good looks, also when Jan finally does speak to Holly she notices they have the same dorky sense of humor, the type of humor she never understood. It’s obvious they are perfect for each other so true to her wicked queen stature she tries to deny Michael any shred of happiness but for once Michael stands up for himself and does the exact opposite and asks Holly out.

Melora Hardin as Jan Levinson

It’s a very touching moment when Michael, head down, walks up to Holly, hugs her and insecurely yet firmly asks her to go out. With tears in her eyes, Holly accepts and we see a moment of true feeling in these characters. Amy Ryan and Steve Carrell have great chemistry on the show and together, as dorky and immature as they are separately, they seem more realistic and adult together as a couple so hopefully we won’t see Michael go and mess it all up next week.

On the other side of the spectrum, in less bizarro couple world, Pam and Jim are out of sync and incommunicado. They hope it’s just for the day but my Spidey senses tell me this might mean trouble. But I think it’s about time, they’ve been too perfect for too long. It’s time to shake things up a bit.

Other hilarious moments worth noting:
Dwight testing the $1200 stroller for durability
Jan passionately serenading “Son of a Preacher Man” to her newborn
Dwight helping Michael with a dry run of the birth
Assturd and Golden Shower
Dressing the baby in vegetables for an Anne Getties photo shoot
