I used to be a huge fan of Heroes. The 1st season was easily the best but ever since then this show has gone to crap. I have finally started to understand why the critics now hate it and why the fans are rejecting it. This series has got to get better before NBC pulls the plug. This episode starts off with Hiro in Africa. Usutu was saying the same thing he said last episode. You must choose a path or the path will choose you. Whatever! We didn’t see Hiro again until the end of the episode where he made him and Ando eat that magic paste. You know the one, the one that is made up of root and animal do-do. The episode ended with Hiro going on a spiritual journey. Let’s hope it takes him to a place where the producers can find something better for him to do.
Mohinder is going toe to toe with Tracy and Nathan. That is before he realized that he is outnumbered and out powered. He takes Mara and escapes Superman style! He takes her to Pinehurst, hoping that they can find a cure for her. He gets his wish when Arthur takes her power away! Mohinder is pleased but Mara wants nothing to do with him and you can’t blame her. She ends up leaving and heading back home. I have to say that she won’t be missed. Let’s hope that she doesn’t return because her character was completely useless. I know that she is cute but please keep her off of Heroes. Mohinder, on the other hand, is a different story. He has become Dr. Evil due to his own mistakes. He is willing to work for Arthur as long as he can find a cure for himself. He was even willing to use Peter as a test subject for this cure. After everything they have been through, he didn’t show much remorse for what he was about to do. Can anyone say “Acting out of character.” I don’t know what the writers are thinking but this is nothing like Mohinder in the first two seasons. I know they want to move the story along but Mohinder acting this way makes no sense.

Kristen Bell as Elle
Speaking of Peter, he had a real bad episode. His father took away his powers and told him he will never get them back! Well that‘s what his father said but we all know that he can’t be trusted. Sylar had to save him from the clutches of his father and Dr. Evil. Their mother found a way to wake up Sylar from his mini coma and wreck havoc at the company. He almost helped Peter escape until Mohinder got involved and smashed his brain in. Peter didn’t leave though; he returned to save his brother Sylar for some odd reason. It didn’t matter though because Arthur used his words of wisdom to switch Sylar to his side. Peter tried to reason with him but all he got was being thrown 7 stories to the ground! It’s okay though because he lived. How we don’t know but Peter believes it was Sylar protecting him. I think it was his powers slowly coming back. Whatever the case, I can’t understand why after everything he and Sylar has been through that Peter was willing to stay for him. Did they forget about the heated angle between the two in the 1st season? I get that they want more action but please don’t but two enemies together knowing that they almost tried to kill each other just two years ago! That’s just lazy and bad writing.
Speaking of bad writing, that whole Claire and Elle pairing was a waste of time. They look cute together but they don’t act well together. Kristin bell played her part well but Hayden needs to improve. You can tell she is acting especially during her scene when she tried to remove Elle from the house. She didn’t look mad at all. It was like she was more annoyed than angry. Elle couldn’t control her powers anymore and went to the Bennet family for help. Elle mentioned the Pinehurst company and what they can do. Claire became interested and wanted to go with her. Together, they flew to New Jersey in hopes of fixing their problem. On the way, they were able to bond with one another and it looked like they were building a friendship. Why the writers wanted to take this road, I will never know but once again these two have a checkered past that involved their daddies mixing it up. You would think that it would take a lot for them to become friends after everything that happened in the second season but not on Heroes. Here, bad writing is the norm.
In the shock of the night, Arthur kills Maury Parkman for wanting to protect his son, Matt. Arthur saw through Daphne’s lies and told her to kill him but Maury wouldn’t let him. Arthur snapped his neck with two fingers for his disobedience. After seeing that Daphne was ready to do the kill or at least I thought, Matt Parkman was able to convince her not to and came up with a brilliant plan. Knox followed her just in case she failed and went toe to toe with Matt. Matt put an image in his head that he killed them both. It worked! Matt and Daphne thought that they were in the clear when we found out that everything the viewer saw was part of Arthur’s plan. He wanted Matt to do that so he can fall for Daphne. They are going to try to use his love for her to turn him to the dark side. It also looks like she will act as a spy when H.R.G. forms his hero team. Let’s hope H.R.G. isn’t so gullible and won’t full for her cuteness.
Tracy and Nathan waited in Mohinder’s lab for H.R.G. and his new partner Meredith to show up. They called them hoping for some answers. He tells them that they need to be tested just in case Mohinder put something in them. Nathan gets a call from Claire telling him that she has Peter. He shows up with Tracy and Peter tells him the bad news. He no longer has his powers and that their father is alive. Nathan wants to go see him but Peter pleads not for him to go. Nathan lies and says he isn’t but when he leaves he informs Tracy that he is going to kick their door down and get some answers. With Nathan’s attitude, it looks like he’s heading for one series beat down.
This episode was the worst this season. The characters weren’t acting themselves and the actors were forcing their lines. Peter came off like a whiny little child who just lost his favorite toy. Every scene he was in had him either complaining or vowing for revenge and it got old really quick. Nothing in this episode kept me interested other than H.R.G. and his hottie of a partner. Givien the fact that they only had like 3 minutes of airtime showed how dull this episode was. They need to give H.R.G., Meredith, Knox, Hiro, Flint, and Ando more airtime because those are the only characters that people really care about or think that are cool. This episode has proved to me that Heroes is truly headed to either cancellation or budget cuts. I’m hoping this is the last bad episode this season but giving the previews for the next episode… I doubt it!
