With a number of current shows returning right now with new seasons, I haven’t had much time to play my Farscape DVDs. It’s tough going from series to series right now, being introduced to a number of new characters, especially now that I’m just getting into Farscape and its characters.

The crew aboard Moya came under attack this week, not just by the Peacekeepers but by a new enemy. A group of bugs entered the Moya when soon took up residence in the unoccupied quarters. The bugs began breeding at alarming rates, increasing the temperature aboard the ship. This not only meant an uncomfortable living quarters, but certain eventual death for Aeryn Sun. It seems her species is oddly susceptible to overheating and she asked John Crichton to kill her if she got too sick.

Two John Crichtons?

Of all the things to ask someone, a mercy killing isn’t one that comes to mind very often. And yet, there was a time in which it looked like it may be necessary. This, however, never came to be, as John, Rygel, and D’Argo did a good job of communicating with the bugs and disposing of the eventual squad of Peacekeepers which came aboard when the Moya was vulnerable.

For someone who is really out of his element, John seems to have gotten into the swing of things really well. He’s still surprised by the bugs, but despite what he says, he appears to be reasonably comfortable there for someone who just arrived courtesy of a black hole.

I enjoyed the scene where John complained about cleaning his teeth. It’s strange to think of using a grub-like creature in place of a toothbrush.

I didn’t have many complaints with the episode. It was all interesting and exciting. It started a little slow, but the replicants made things interesting as the episode went along. You weren’t sure who to trust you figured out the replicants didn’t have the ability to speak.

Rating: 8.8
