Supernatural is back and apparently so is Dean. Literally pulled out of the grave, Dean finds himself back on earth, in the middle of nowhere. It’s been four months and things have changed, but thankfully the show is still just as good as ever.

Dean comes back in the opening moments of the show. Thankfully the writers didn’t try to overdramatize Dean coming back or draw it out over the season. The writers got right to the point and brought Dean back quickly. Dean finds Bobby and the initial reaction had Bobby attacking Dean, eventually Dean convinces him, but through the episode you can tell that Bobby doesn’t full believe Dean is himself. The same goes for Sam, who reacted the same way. Both scenes felt so genuine and the reaction was cleverly done, because it was something that Sam and Bobby would both do.

Nothing seems to have changed much in the four months that Dean’s been gone, but Sam has. Sam has been on his own for four month and it definitely shows through out the episode. He’s a lot more independent and the small changes he’s made are noticeable even the iPod in the Chevy.

Jensen Ackles as Dean, Jared Padalecki as Sam

It’s funny that in any other show, everyone would be happy to have the hero come back from the dead, but not Supernatural. Once Dean is back, the group get to work on finding out who or what pulled Dean out.

Things get weird when we find out that it was God, yes the GOD that chose to bring Dean back. Castiel is the angel who looks like he’ll be guiding Dean. It’s great to see Supernatural bring heaven into the show, for long we’ve only experienced the dark powers of the world on Supernatural but it was good to hear that there’s a good side as well as the dark side. The writer’s have really done their work too, because all the mythology like people not being able to handle Gods or angels true form was in there and it’s just great to watch a show that really does the research beforehand.

Dean has been brought back to do something for God, but he’s not sure what it is yet and in fact doesn’t understand why God brought him back. He doesn’t think he’s worthy of coming back. Supernatural started off with a bang and based off this first episode, we have another excellent season ahead of us.
