I was pleasantly surprised when the History Channel announced there would be another Bigfoot episode in the series. We saw a few last season, but this year, the show has already shown two episodes of creatures I don’t really consider to be monsters.

It seems that several areas in the world have some sort of BigFoot creature. Whether it’s here in the U.S. or across Asia, we’ve all got stories of large, muscular, hairy creatures which walk upright on two legs. This has fascinated me for some time now. Is there really something this phenomena or is it all a hoax? I’m of the opinion that there really is some sort of creature out there. How human or gorilla like it is, I am not sure, but I’m certain something not known to science has managed to hide from us for the most part.

That being said, I’m still interested in seeing any and all evidence people find. First-hand encounters are always interesting to an extent, but I prefer physical evidence… fingerprints, hair samples, etc. In “Ohio Grassman,” we did get a paw/hand print which was sent to a primate expert in Texas. His conclusion was that it was real and it belonged to a non-human primate. The stubby, fat fingers reminded him of the gorilla than say a chimpanzee or other primate.

I was of the same opinion here, though I have some doubts as to whether or not he could truly judge whether or not the print was real. This concern comes from the fact that I believe someone with a vast knowledge of human and primate features could in fact, given the time and resources, could fake a print and fool the so-called experts.

This episode also brought forth the evidence of a photographed nest. It was also a shelter, likely able to block out warm sunlight and some of the rain. In a previous episode, we were shown an area in which it looked like a number of BigFoots might have laid down in the grass, but no shelter was found. One thing that interested me in this nest/shelter was the sheer size of it: ten feet by three feet, give or take a foot. That’s a pretty big place to hole up for the night.

Ever since that BigFoot episode that was filmed in Canada was done, I’ve wanted to see a chopper in the area with a Flir camera. Surprisingly, we got that here, just on a small scale. That first flight at night resulted in a heat signature being detected, but it was impossible to tell what the thing was. For all we know, it could have been a large bird sitting in a tree.

The only thing that really bothered me with “Ohio Grassman” was the lack of volunteers. When the narrator was talking about the setup and plan of action for the evening of the night-flight, I was of the opinion that they had a team of volunteers waiting, ready to go into the forest if they saw something on the camera. Well, that didn’t seem to work out. Instead, a single guy was shown traipsing through the forest (on a different day), setting up trail cameras and a silly-looking BigFoot decoy. Where was the army of volunteers? It just seemed pointless to film a heat signature and have no way of entering the forest to investigate the creature that you just filmed. For pete sake, don’t go to the expense of filming the episode if you’re not ready to deal with what you catch.
