Fort Delaware was an investigation that, in the end, yielded some extremely compelling paranormal evidence. In fact, this entire episode was dedicated to this one single, albeit extensive, investigation, which, at the reveal, had the guys using the infamous H-word (haunted).

Jason and Grant, along with the rest of the TAPS team, seemed very enthusiastic about the fort. And what Ghost Hunter worth their merit wouldn’t be? Built in the mid-1800s, where 30,000-something confederate prisoners of war were held during the Civil War, and where approximately 2500 of those (soldiers) met their unfortunate demise from either disease or malnutrition, Fort Delaware should have been brimming with paranormal activity, right?

Exactly. Almost immediately the TAPS team was confronted with possible spirits “making their presence known”. And, surprisingly, one of the biggest finds of the night happened outside of the areas shown to them by the site curator. And, in fact, it should be pointed out that Jason’s idea of leaving no stone unturned really came to fruition this time round. While he and Grant were in a tunnel that encircled the fort, they saw something on their thermal-imaging camera–none other than a possible full-body apparition. It made the hairs stand up on the back of the neck when a Human-looking figure crossed from left to right at the end of the tunnel.

Ghost Hunters - Fort Delaware 1

Being thorough as always, Jason set up the thermal camera on a tripod so that, if the figure reappeared, they might be able to record a repeat of the same activity. And, sure enough, during the analysis Steve and Tango found where the figure reappears, seemingly to stick its head around the corner. It seems like some pretty solid evidence, but the problem is, do ghosts put out heat? The thermal camera picked up a fairly large heat signature, good enough to see that it was, at least, a humanoid-shaped figure. Supposedly, at the times the entity appeared, all TAPS team and Ghost Hunters production crew members were accounted for, and were nowhere near that particular section of tunnel.

However, the possible entity-caught-on-camera was not the only bit of evidence captured during the night of the investigation at Fort Delaware. In the kitchen/mess hall area where a woman apparition was said to appear–one that was intelligent and interactive with the living–Jason and Grant got quite the surprise–so did everyone else at the fort. A loud, metallic bang was heard and startled Jason so that he nearly jumped out of his seat. When the sound was revealed to the fort’s curator, he likened it to a cannon being fired, which leapt into immediate believability. Was this a literal shot from the past? Also during the reveal, two possible EVPs were played. One was captured where a soldier died falling down some stairs. “Show some respect around here,” is what it sounded like to the guys. Also, before the bang was heard there was a female’s voice captured that said, “kitchen”.

Ghost Hunters - Fort Delaware 2

The investigation at Fort Delaware included everything from Kris Williams becoming a full TAPS investigator, finally, to Steve dealing with his fear of spiders (spider-killing spray at the ready) to a possible full-body apparition to ghostly cannon fire–probably one of the most compelling (and fun) investigations in recent memory. Fort Delaware definitely stacks up to the level of say The Armory and then some.
