This episode kicks off right from the last with Tony and company trying to find out how to deal with the rat that is Jimmy. This problem is taken care of fairly quick and that’s the end Jimmy. Next Tony now is trying to find out who put the hit out on him, when the F.B.I come around and play a tape recording of Uncle Junior’s and Livia’s conversation. It was sad, because one thing we know about Tony is that he is always loyal to his family and it broke his heart to think that his mother, the woman he’s been taking care of has actually plotted in whacking him. Tony now has to work on a plan to take out Junior’s crew and it’s done. He has Paulie and Christopher take out Mikey, by chasing him through the forest, in pretty hilarious fashion the chase doesn’t fit well with Paulie who touches a whole bunch of poison Ivy. Mikey’s death was probably the funniest death of the season, not only because of Paulie’s Ivy or Christopher calling Junior Magoo, but it was fairly triumphant just because we hate Mikey. Mikey has been one of the most unlikeable characters on the show, so you could help, but be happy that Mikey had finally been taken care of.
Junior gets arrested on something totally not involving Tony, and for now Junior is out of Tony’s hair, and at least Tony doesn’t have to kill him. As for Tony’s mother, her Alzheimer’s is getting bad, but she’s still manages to be evil enough to tell Artie that Tony blew up his restaurant, but Tony is able to smooth things out with Artie, he told Artie he didn’t touch his restaurant which is technically true since he had someone else do it.
Carmella finally outs Father John for the moocher that he is, and confronts him about having a problem with mooching off of spiritually thirsty ladies. Father John was another creepier character, because we’re always unsure of what he’s really thinking, so it was relieving when Carmella finally ended things and confront him.
Aside from Pussy still missing, everything feels like it’s wrapped up for now. Junior and his crew are in jail and everything for right now is right. It was a great sendoff to the season we’ve seen Tony slightly evolve from what he was in the beginning, but he still has tons of work to do. His relationship with Dr. Melfi seems to be going fine, even though you have to wonder why Dr. Melfi continue to counsel him. This final episode was great and it didn’t seem cheesy or anything. For a well done episode and a good season. The Sopranos definitely get a nod.
