I’m not new to shows about the search for ghosts. I’ve seen a number of these paranormal shows, including the regular Sci-Fi series’, Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International. But when I heard MonsterQuest was going to be investigating them, I grew very skeptical.

The skepticism is in that I doubted the investigation would be any good and not in the existence of ghosts. I’m a firm believer in ghosts, spirits, or whatever you want to call them.

Along with an investigation in the Lizzie Borden house, MonsterQuest, also had experts examine pieces of video to see if they were credible. I have to admit that of all of those video pieces shown, I’ve never before seen them. And it was for a good reason; no one in their right mind would believe them and pass them on as true.

The gas station footage was interesting at first, but when the it was revealed that the blue image was on the camera in the same position for forty minutes, any hope that it was a ghost vanished. Whatever it was, a bug or piece of dirt, wasn’t paranormal.

The only other interesting piece was the Gettysburg video. I’m certain that Gettysburg is haunted, but that doesn’t mean everyone with a camera is going to come away with proof of it. The footage shown didn’t convince me of anything. Though the figures appeared to be ghostly, there wasn’t anything about it that really grabbed me. The analyst concluded it was faked. I can’t say that I agree with that, but it just isn’t footage I would have used on the show if I were a MonsterQuest producer. There’s just nothing incredible about it.

As for the investigation at Lizzie Borden’s house, it seemed to be pretty much the run-of-the -mill deal. If you’ve seen Ghost Hunters, this isn’t all that different. Similar techniques and equipment. I was glad that some evidence was collected. EVPs were recorded, though neither really surprised me in any way.

When I think of MonsterQuest, I think of monsters. Not ghosts or wild hogs. If you’re going to investigate a monster in the paranormal field, visit places where demons are reportedly present. That’ll be a true MonsterQuest episode. I just couldn’t get into this episode. It just seemed like any other mediocre paranormal show. It didn’t help when they showed the mother still trying to talk to her son, four years after his passing. Instead of doing EVP sessions, she needs to see a counselor. It’s time for her to move on and it’s time for her son to do the same.
